Very interesting! Since I've already had the headwork, roller rockers, adj pushrods, larger injectors (5.3gm/sec), 58mm TB, Woods 408-6 cams and Power Vsion Tuner installed, the 124" jugs and pistons might be a nice fit for an upgrade.

I had a RevPerf 124 as well. Built it for 2 up cruising and mid-range torque.
The good:
The engine was everything that I wanted it to be. Fast, could pull down a house, and was a lot of fun to ride!
The bad:
It would go through head gaskets about every 5K miles
I know that RevPerf and Cometics have been working together on a new head gasket and I believe that they have tested and are shipping the new design, so hopefully the head gasket issues are behind them.

I have done 3 of them, all three have had multiple head gasket failures. I just redid one of them with a new style head gasket from Cometic. Time will tell......
As far as power goes the best was 148.6HP, 144.8TQ This was with Revperf stage III heads and a TW9FG cam.

1st motor had 35k on it with a Screamin Eagle crank that was only ballanced. CP pistons, fueling oil pump and plate, T-Man 650g cams. No oil leaks
2nd motor has 15k on it with a Screamin eagle crank, balanced welded and Ultima rods. weisco pistons, fueling oil pump and plate, T-Man 625g cams, cylinders are from 1st motor and were re-Nickacelled and honed for Weisco pistons. No oil leaks
3rd motor has 17k on it with a stock 4" crank with custom rods, ceramic bearings, balanced and welded. Weisco pistons in 4.25" cylinders....same as 124" but smaller crank. HD oil pump and plate, T-Man 625chain drives custom ground down to new profile. No oil leaks
When I did the last 2 motors we assembled the bottom end and then honed down the surface to make sure the base gaskets layed on a smooth surface. Cometic has a special torque sequence that was done, and they were installed dry, but the motor was heated up to 145 degrees before torqueing . This was something we did on the race car motors.
Zinster I can not comment on the S&S motor. Have never ridden one so I can not compare

Just remember that once you go to the 4.25" cylinders your cases can not go any larger. With the 4.25" cylinders you don't leave much room for a base gasket to seal properly. It will seal properly if you take your time and get everything right. Do not just throw it together and hope for the best.
If I were to do it again, I would only go with 4.125" cylinders making a 117" with the 4.385" crank. At least with this combo you can go bigger later if you must.

I would use the RP cylinders in a heartbeat and the latest ones I have had experience with have worked well. I would not go 4.250 bore on stock cases.

I agree and continue to use thier products, just not the 4.25" bore stuff

Spoke to R P last week and they told me they were going to have a bolt on 113 kit for our 110's available in Oct.

The 4.250" bore kits from anyone, have a history of gasket leaks, as the clamping force is spread over too much distance.
No issues boring the OE cases to that spigot dimension, as they are certainly strong enough.

I became interested only after I seen that RP has jugs with the matching granite. I was looking for the next upgrade because I have a friend with a bagger using a G2 126 and he can walk by me. Damn that peer pressure anyway....

How signifiant does lower compression, ie 10:5 vs 11:1, 11:5, help reduce this problem? I,ve read some stories from guy's stating their nightmares began once they bumped compression. And typically, how much HP increase do you see with these big inch motors when go 10:1 to 11:5-12:5 compression?? Seems a lot of folks are going to higher compression motors, how are they getting these motors to run half decent on pump gas???

My 124 was using 10.5 pistons with a corrected compression of around 9.7. Never pinged and ran great, but still went through head gaskets.

Hardly seems worth the effort. I'm not sure I'd even be interested in the effort for 7cubes. I would have been interested in an upgrade from 110 to 124 but the problems highlighted on blown head gaskets definitely make me hesitate.

I feel the same way. If a man has two bikes and can risk motor issues and has buckets of cash then a what the heck attitude would be in order.

No 3 cubes would not be worth it to me, but if I had to replace cylinders and pistons due to piston slop like some have. Then the RP cylinders would be worth the upgrade.
Not so much for the 3 cubes but the better made cylinder.
