Hog Pod Tweeters for Road Glides!
« on: January 12, 2010, 09:24:57 AM »

For any of you interested in the hog pod tweeters for your roadglide...these just came out from Pez. I think they look pretty cool! I love the set I have on my SG so if these work as well..you might check them out!! This is from Pez...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey All

So.......after 1 year of hard work the pics are finally out. We experimented pretty hard where tweeters have to go on RG to actually work. The obvious place is next to the speakers in the stock grills, but that was useless. We spent about a day and a half placing tweeters all over a borrowed RG until we came up with what we all agreed on "works".

We originally looked at doing a piece like Kuryakyn has that fits over the speedo/tach bezel but that looked to clunky IMHO. We finally decided to "buck up" and do it right--we had to reverse engineer the HD part and build our ears in to hold the tweeters--that was challenging to do right

Anyways--like the original pod, the HF2RG will come with mesh grills on it, and clioth grills in the box so you can choose the ones you want. The pod is 100% plug and play, but the fairing does have to come off to wire (sorry eh). The unit matches a stock inner perfectly, but comes apart easily for paint.

The factory guages will bolt into our piece. Youll also have to remove the factory turn signal indicator and bezel. You can either put the stock black turn signal bezel into the tweeter pod, or you can install the supplied CHROME turn signal bezel. I believe we are the only people offereing this piece in chrome for RG??

The front fairing on RG has some wiggle room to move up and down on the 4 main studs that hold it to the frame. From the Moco, most inner fairings are mounted all the way up-which our pod has loads of room side to side on turning radius. If the inner is all the way down, on my 09, it clears perfect-but is close...... I believe we are all A-OK

Anyways--US Retail is $199. Please email me at info@hogtunes.com with any questions. Were hoping to ship these before month end--PEZ

If they work like they do on the Electra Glide fairings......then they work well! :2vrolijk_21:

JC do those hook up to the rear channel speakers or do they get wired into the front speaker circuit?

Jim installed ours but we only have front (unless they're different than the SEEG stereos were). :nixweiss:

When I installed my amp I had an extra set of wires for rear speakers but I thought the hogpods might need to be in the front channel circuit? Guess I can try it and find out. thx

You still have to remove the fairing on the Road Glide to install.  You got a painter lined up?

Larry B is doing some good color match painting.

I would like to see one painted. Right now I'm leaning towards "Fugly".

I have to agree.....With the Road glides there is enough room in the stock speaker mount to install a tweeter behind the factory grille.

Exatly Jim! I have set mounted inside the speaker housing and they sound great.

My old Road Glide has the HW component speakers and amp in it.  Works more than well enough for my needs.  Damn it's glad not be tempted by new chit once again.
