Better Headlight
« on: May 02, 2010, 07:23:42 PM »

I have a 2010 SESG and want to upgrade the headlight.....other than going HID since I don't have the $$ for that right now, has anybody found a better/brighter bulb that I can use to get some more light out of the stock setup??

Going with HID certainly isn't an expensive option.  For instance:  http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=61&pg=1  I don't know if yours has 2 separate bulbs like mine or just one bulb.  If it has 2 bulbs, get 2 kits for $17.50 each with the correct bulb for high and low if you are going to change both of them.  Color temp 4500k is a nice white light and very bright.  For $17.50, you get the bulb, ballast, and all wiring for complete plug'n'play.  I stuck with the 35W setup.

The only problem I have encountered is my garage door opener no longer works when I plug in the high beam.  :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

Mine has 2 bulbs..I will have to pull them out to see which type they are.

Thanks for the info....

Just wondering--I'm sure there is a difference between this setup and the ones costing $200 and more???

H8 and H11.

You can use a pair of H9 instead, that makes it easy if you buy a car kit.  I have to admit, you do not even notice the high beam when it is on.  It's a waste, but you may not like the color difference if you leave the halogen  bulb for the high beam.  I just upgraded mine.  For $20 you can't get a good incandescent bulb.

H11 low beam and H8 high beam.  Passing lamps are 881, but I just replaced those with Luminics bulbs to try to match up the white color of the lights better.  As far as using the H9 instead, I thought I read somewhere that this was not a good idea, I just don't remember why that was.
