Since the Vance & Hines power duals will not be released until a few more weeks... i could not stand the quietness of my new Tequila Sunrise..
Well, i removed the chrome end caps and drill 8 3/8 holes in the baffle. i gotta tell it sounds pretty good... the more i ride it the deeper the rumble gets....
I thought Harley would have something to say about it (warranty wise) they only stated if i'm satisfied with the sound they still recommend installing the Tuner to get the motor and the bike dialed in properly...

Willard, in effect what you did was reduce back pressure. that was trick we used to do back in the day, in states that require baffles. Yes it will sound a bit sweeter, but if you look at the stock baffle you'll see not much opened up. two pipes cross over each other and now you've let some of the exhaust escape early.
I'd like to hear it. i was up at Bumpus yesterday and might be running by there on Monday, or you can bring it by the shop

Have you noticed any difference in throttle response?

I did the same thing on mine, and noticed no difference in throttle response, now ofter I put the duals on....big difference!

Why 8 holes? Why not 4 or 6 while still retaining as much back pressure as possible for max torque?

That pipe retains alot of back pressure, becuase its so restrictive, even if you were to put 20 holes probably.

for some people that is a little more expensive than drilling a few holes!!!!! albeit a hellava lot more efficient than the holes though!!!
