XiED?
« on: December 21, 2009, 01:44:45 PM »

Has anyone thought about purchasing an XiED for their '10 SESG?  The company is supposed to have the '10 adaptors out this month sometime.  Does anyone have experience with this system?

For those with questions about the XiED, here is thier site:

When the ECM goes into "closed loop" the XIED will adjust your ARF's to the preset XIED range. I will be choosing the 13.8. The closed loop is mainly in the cruising ranges if you look at a SEST or SERT map.

This is the route I will be taking before removing the cat or changing head pipes. I will only be doing this to cool the bike down a little during next summer. It won't be perfect but will be OK for now.

I will be doing this until I am sure there will be no warranty issues then will upgrade to a SEST or TTS and screw the rest of the warranty time line.

That actually brings up a good point because I wonder if the SERT will void the warranty?  I could see the XiED, or the TTS voiding the warranty, but what about the SERT?  I live in El Paso, so anything that will combat engine heat....I am up for, especially the pricing on the XiED.

CT...

I've never had an issue with one of my bikes or trikes and a SERT or SEST messing with the warranty but I get a long pretty well with my dealer and they know I do my own tuning with a Twin Scan II /WEGO.

I'm sure there are others with a different story to tell and how other dealers mess with them. Then there are the service or parts guys that will tell you... "It will void your warranty unless we install it". OK, go ahead and install my SEST then put it back in the box because you don't have my permission to change the map.  :2vrolijk_21:

Before putting the SESG in for service or warranty I'll pull the XIED's as the bike will have no other mods for now. That will be the best thing for me, for now. Slow business and my XMas spirit forces me to wait a bit before doing more modifications. I have a set of XIED's, all I need is the adapter.

There's a bunch of threads pertaining to the 09's and older, from the main screen just do a search on XIED's, here's one for 09's.

Using TTS or SEST voids the warranty if the selling dealer for it does the work they will slip it through but if you have a problem on the road and do not restore the factory map your warranty can be voided.

With the XIED you can unplug it and put it in your pocket before it goes in for service

Of course after market pipes and Cat removal void the warranty too!

Yeah, thats what I like about the XiED, the fact that you can easily take it off and the engine goes back to its original configuration.    :2vrolijk_21:

Techincally, and if you read the label on the Super SERT, the SERT is only for off-road use and may void your warranty.  Actually, the minute you modify/remove/replace and of the factory installed on/in the engine, you've technically voided the warranty.  As stated previously, most dealers, especially if they do the installs, will provide you warranty service, but it's no guarantee you'll get the same support from another dealer if you're on the road and require service.  Now having said all of this, it is incumbant upon the dealer and the MoCo to prove that the mods you did caused the failure before they can deny repair under warranty.  It's all in your dealer.  I've never had a problem with my dealer honoring the warranty, but then again, I've had him install all the parts that I've changed out.

It's all in your dealer.  I've never had a problem with my dealer honoring the warranty, but then again, I've had him install all the parts that I've changed out.

This sums it up I do all my own mods and have had warranty issues with them in the past. This is why I pass on the extended warranties as well. IMO the money is better saved for that unexpected expense.

Dumbest example: I purchase 2 Roadwinder wheels from a 20% off HD dealer by UPS and installed them myself. When they started peeling chrome less than 40 days later I was told the warranty was void as the selling dealer (1,000 miles away) had not installed them.

No logic here except Greed! Of course they lost all future wheel business from me! Not that they actually care.
