Anybody installed HD's chrome mirror covers (w/ LEDs)?
« on: September 30, 2009, 08:49:20 PM »

Saw a pair hangin' on the wall in my local stealer's part dept..  Looks like they'd bring a touch of class (ok, bling) to the dash area, and.. having extra lights can't hurt.

I couldn't test fit 'em, since the mirrors have to be removed so the covers can slip over 'em.. but I do like the way they look.

I like the looks of these... wonder if the lights are strong enough to show up during daytime? Think I'll order 'em and put them in the "awaiting bike arrival pile". :huepfenjump3:

I'm going to put the standard (non-lighted) version of the mirror covers on mine.  I think that along with the lighted strip under the windshield is getting a little too "Goldwingish" for me....JMO...

Regarding the lighted version:
I like the idea of having a pretty visible indicator that is not so visible when not in use.  I don't know if you pull that off when they are wrapped in chrome.  How do you think these would look color matched with a color matched fairing :nixweiss:

Anybody painted the mirror housings along with the fairing? Pics anyone?

Hopefully someone will come out with an aftermarket version that is already black and hopefully cheaper.

Has anyone seen a non-MoCo version of the mirrors with indicator lights?

Not black, but Kuryakyn has a couple of options:

http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/catID/9/scID/12/IMID/239 @ $199 or
http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/catID/9/scID/12/IMID/239 these are just caps over the OEM mirror @ $129

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but that Kury stuff just looks so tacky to me.  There aren't many pieces of Kury that I would even consider putting on either of my bikes.  Could be just me though.  :nixweiss:

One of those two options is very close to the HD illuminated mirror caps and this is the link:

http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/catID/9/scID/12/IMID/237

Thanks Myko, I'm sure this is the other one you meant to put in, but both of those links are the same.

To me they are really close and have the same list price ($129.99).  Although Chicago HD will have the MoCo one's for 20% off and the MoCo caps have LED's.  The Kury caps don't say what they are.

I did find the thread of a SG with color matched mirrors and color matched fairing.  JCZ's Household6 bike.  I believe he mentioned he got them from FBI so it could be harder to do on the SESG because you'd have to find someone to match the paint.

Pics of the color matched mirrors are in this thread:
http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=32927.0

That bike is for sale by the way in this thread:

Many nice mods there.

I just got a color matched inner for my SG (deep cobalt) and would love if the Moco would get a clue and make the color matched mirrors available, especially with the LED's  it would look good against that deep blue.

I'm thinking of having mine color matched and using the Biketronics BT40/41
