Dog ears-got em?
« on: May 22, 2007, 04:11:42 PM »

How many of you, no matter where you are, can hear the sound of a v-twin from miles away. Doesn't matter if I'm out with the wife, working in the yard or just running errands. First my ears perk up....then my head is on a swivel trying to determine from which direction it will approach. The thumping v-twin drowning out the sound of anything in it's path. Even if I'm only feet from a door there's no way I'm going in until I see what kind of bike is approaching, if it's tricked out and of course how it sounds. Then the envy sets in...it doesn't even matter if I've managed to log a 200+ mile day...he (or she) is on their bike....and I'm not. I bet i'm not the only one.....

As I'm driving down the road and I see a bike, the windows always go down.
Even in the winter!

Absolutely.  The road I live on gets a lot of bike traffic, especially on the weekend.  When I first hear the rumble, I will hit the mute on the TV and tell everyone, "be quite, my bothers are coming by."

Yep, I think we all got 'em! I usually cup my hand to my ear, as if it makes you hear it better, and say" Ah, music to my ears"! Hoist! 8)

I live about 1 1/2-2 miles from the "Main" drag. The road from me to there is predominately twisties. For some one who knows the road it is a 60MPH road. I can hear a bike that leaves my place all the way until he hits the main road. Now coming in toward me I pick them up on semi straight away rolling through the gears and than jumping on the binders for the S turn. On a quiet night I swear I can hear them from miles away.
