Why does Harley riders have to look like pirates?  Seriously, it's just the eye patch that's missing for some.

couple of our NAM guys have eye patches, but I don't think you'd want to call 'em a Pirate.

For the same reasons sport bikers have to look like robots.  :nixweiss: Me, I always wanted to look like a pirate, hence the Harley. ;)

Swapped out my unwrapped D&D muffler for the wrapped baffle and rode about 60 miles.  Reckon I'm getting old but the "less noise" was pleasant.

Went on Dale's Chilly Chili Run in Ogdensburg, NJ. Not a fan of organized runs but it was a good cause, Karen Ann Quinlan Centre of Hope Hospice. Outside temperature was 25* when I left the house at 9am and never got above 35*. It was an hour's ride to get there and the 30 mile run never got above 40mph.

I'm grateful for my heated gear, but my Harley (Gerbing's) gloves don't seem to get as warm as they used to. Also, the boot insoles are on the same control circuit as the gloves. So, when the temp is turned up to keep my hands warm, my feet are on fire. Oh well, better than being cold.

cmashark,

I'd start with installing heated grips.
You may find that they will do the trick.
That's all I use on my SEUC8.
Don't need any of that other expensive stuff and don't have to worry about unplugging wires or turning things off when I dismount.

Just a thought.
I'm wondering how effective heated grips are in the extreme cold. I have a CVORK with no fairing and the backs of my hands are not protected from the elements. I'm thinking that heated gloves are a better choice for this situation because both the palm side and back side are heated.

Fairing or not, those of us with handlebar mounted mirrors get plenty of wind deflected right onto the knuckles. I myself wear a pair of snowmobile gloves when riding below 50*. Windproof, waterproof, warm and no cords to mess with. If it gets too bitter, I crank up the grips but most of the time if I do that, they make my hands sweat.

It has been my experience that with the heated grip I need to wear the thinner gloves to be able to feel the grip heat. We left Charlotte headed for Daytona and the temp was 19*. My hands were fine but I would imagine the heated gloves would have been better.
With heated grips I wouldn't bother with heated gloves. With no heated grips I definitely would want the heated gloves. Given the either or nothing choice I would probably go for the heated gloves because hook up would be easier.

I guess it depends.  On my '11 the heated grips worked for shiite .. but on my '15 they get toasty on the 1-2 setting. Strange but true.

My 11 FLTRUSE was the same, had to turn them to the highest setting and they barely got warm. My 15 FLTRUSE works exactly as you have stated, 1-2 setting. I noticed when I got my 13 CVO Ultra and 14 CVO Limited you only needed to use 1-2 setting. I'm thinking the MoCo changed something but my dealer is telling me they did not.

I put 14" Monkey bars on my 13 SERK, when I did I had the heated grips for a 13 CVO Ultra installed as it was same grip design.  They work well, but in extreem cold I still need heated gloves due to the back of my hands.

My 15 SERGU has the heated  grips, 2 is as high as I can stand, same with the ones on the SERK.  They are really nice in moderate weather, as you do not need heated gloves until under 40 or so.

Also, had to get them color matched as well!
