 Rode down to Boone NC with Dwayne and Pam, Steve and Miss Susan. Rode down over the Dragon, Saltville, Damascus and Mountain City. Ate at the Dan'l Boone Inn which has recently reopened after C19 then hit the parkway and stopped at Station Inn/Freebornes. The Freeborne restaurant/bar is still closed but the Station inn and Woodys were open. Completed the ride back to Bluefield via Sparta, independence, Wytheville and back via old 52.

Total of 260 miles, beautiful weather, beautiful roads and wonderful friends. All in all a great day.

FXR's turn this morning.  Gawd what a gorgeous day to ride.  Thin cloud deck you could see blue through.  Upper 70s.  No wind.  You just couldn't ask for better.

Before leaving tweaked the timing curve (aftermarket ignition).  Curvemaker is the software package.  Nothing special, just added four degrees for a point of comparison.  157 miles later was at a gas station a mile from the house.  52.87 miles per gallon. 

I can't say I really noticed any great difference in how the bike ran.  That's the best fuel mileage it's ever given though.  After it cooled off a bit pulled the plugs and they looked fine.  Never heard any detonation either.

Rode Red Pepper to the Dr appointment.  Then rode to an out of town butcher to get some of his really good bacon, he sells to restaurants all over the area.

Will ride to another Appointment today, then over to SMHD to have my blown saddle bag lid speaker replaced.  Then I will have then turn the fan assisted oil cooler on. 

Got a good chance of getting wet, if its not rain when  its time to leave, I'll go on bike.  Down pour and I'll reschedule.

Put on about 350 miles riding NW Arkansas after getting pig trail HD to replace front wheel bearings , big shout out to them for getting me in and out fast

Purchased some FuelMoto 2/1/2 Headers a few weeks ago and just ordered the matching Hi Roller 4" Black matching mufflers so I can change the baffle to tune the bike better.

Installed the new RickRac GoPro 360 mount on my Red Pepper.  Plan to test it out this week end on our ride to Shelbyville.

Packed the bike this morning for our week-end trip to Shelbyville, TN.  Going to be a nice Ride over hwy 30 up Dayton Mountain then dropping down into Sequatchie valley, the view is beautiful and the curves are great.  Will continue on to Spencer and McMinnville for more good views and curves. 

Should be a great weekend of riding with lots of Motor Maids.

Not on the CVO did I accomplish anything today but on the lift that raises them up and down.  And oh my gawd am I happy when I'm stupid sometimes.

Few weeks ago I started noticing the lift having a definite "chunk" at one spot on its way up or down.  Crap (I thought) bad bearing somewhere or, more likely, I'd somehow flat spotted one of the solid steel rollers.  The lift is a good heavy lift but was produced by a steel fabricator as a side line for them in an industrial park about 40 miles away.  I bought it close to 20 years ago and the company has been gone for a few years I know of.  So if something is bad I'm making replacement parts or buying a new lift.

New lifts are expensive.  But before even looking under my old I'd looked at new ones.  Because, well, new tools .  You get it.

It would still be nice to fix the old beast if I could.  It's got sentimental value.

Half hour ago +/- beer finally decided to take a close look at it.  See what was going on.  Access to a buddy's machine shop tomorrow on Saturday when they're closed to make whatever I might need. 

Lift goes up, CLUNK.  Lift goes down, CLUNK.  All the rollers look good.  Up and down one more time.  I'm a dumass  .

Sometime right before the problem began I must have been changing a front wheel on something.  Had the wheel chock off.  And I put it back together with a bolt going through the floor that was 1/4" too long.  It was hitting a front cross bar carrying the two top front rollers.  Clunk, clunk, clunk.  Bar is still fine.  Bolt was bent.  New bolt from the drawer and lift is like brand new again.  Gotta love it when a plan comes together!

Found the extended heel shifter in my spare parts drawer of my toolbox that I had on my '11 and put it on my '12 this morning.
