I put it in my vice with plastic jaw on the outside and a piece of 4x4 on the inside because the jaws wouldn't close. I used masking tape over the area to be cut. Then using a razor and straight edge cut a straight line in the tape to match the sides. Then used the Dremel with a metal cut off blade making small passes each time. After it was cut off I smoothed out the sharp edges with the dremel.  Then turn it over and do the other side. Trick is don't be in a hurry, just take off small amounts at a time. It does remove your warning label.

Thanks for the details - I'm going to give this a shot.

Success - thanks JMK! turned out really clean. I scored a line with my table saw and sled then used a Dremel from there. A little filing and it looks great. I much rather replace my rear tire then to have to go through that again though.
We'll see how it feels the next time I take it out.

interesting... Homer, could you send a pic of this mod?

I couldn't get a picture to load (thanks JMK) but I see you got it handled.

If anyone else is interested, I used a vice as well and started with a Dremel but my patience got in the way and I changed up to a metal cut-off tool and de-burred the edge. Took all of about 10 minutes.

It seems to pull harder especially going uphill 2 up. I do have a TTS tuner and Fullsac header and cores. I figured more air couldn't hurt.

Oh no, isn't that the same as taking the tag off of your mattress?   :D

I think it actually does pull harder overall... I have the same set up as Homer (TTS, Fullsac header w/ 2.25" cores)

This is what you need.

This is Snake Oil George. Just a added resistion that is not needed.

CVODON, I'm still waiting for you to post your back to back Dyno results comparing the HD Ventilator to the Boyesen Power-X-Intake

Here is what I ended up with. Harley claims its good to 140 hp. The M8 ventilator extreme went right on. $212 bought only the filter and cover. I had to change out the mounting bolts to the intake manifold as the stock ones  were too tall. I need to work on the clamp area on the cover where it clamps on the twin cam back plate because there is no flange on the twin cam plate.

These motors are big air pumps so air with velocity is a good thing however more air and no further tuning can be bad.   More air without adjusting the VE’s can lean things out = heat = bad

Is it in your case couldn’t say, don’t know where your VE’s or how accurate they are, but since you have a TTS you can check it.

Can also check your plugs too
