Transformation Jacket w/Switchback
« on: May 23, 2007, 03:58:15 PM »

Has anyone bought one of these yet?

http://www.harley-davidson.com/mcm/mcm_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448770706&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309178689&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309178689&bmUID=1179949890493&bmLocale=en_US

It seems like it would be like having three jackets in one...full protection, mesh with armour in elbows/shoulders, rain jacket in all but a downpour.  For those trips where you are likely to encounter climates/temperatures that change drastically (like the Nelson trip), or trips into any mountainous area, it appears to be almost a perfect garment to carry.

Nice looking jacket... I have a HD mesh jacket with armor padding in it and it's my favorite jacket. Keeps me cool AND protected.

TC

I have one ordered for the wife.  (Chicago Harley)

I was waiting to she how she likes hers, and how well it functions before getting my own.  But since her's is now on backorder, I may have to take the plunge.  If I not mistaken, don't they offer a Screamin Eagle version of this jacket?  Same functions anyway, with the SE patches.

One of the reasons I was looking at his one...I've got the black mesh jacket without armour.  This one is a gray/silver when the outer panels are zipped off.  It's really versatile, at least from initial impressions.  The mesh is nice, and it would be great to be able to zip the outer panels on for those times it gets cooler at night when on a trip.  It's one of those "limited production" things they do, so only available through dealers.  I love my Fox Creek leather, but no way above 80 degrees.  We're headed for flatland/mountains over the 4th of July week, where we're likely to see temps from 95 degrees to 55.

I actually tried one on this past weekend, as did Suzanne.  Good fit, panels zip off easily, nicely made.  The woman's version mesh (under the panels) is a silver color which should be a lot cooler than the black Suzanne currently has.  Men's is more of a dark silver/gray, but still better than black.

I haven't seen one with the SE emblems...do you have a reference?

I have it. I bought it the day I rolled out of the dealer with my bike. It works pretty well especially the times I got caught in the rain. I keep the inner lining jacket in my saddle bag and use it inside my leather sometimes when it gets cold at night. but you know the story I've bought two more jackets since then.

TC,

Here is the link:  http://www.harley-davidson.com/mcm/mcm_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448770359&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309178689&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309178689&bmUID=1180015250549&bmLocale=en_US

This is not a limited production jacket, like the Transformation.  We ended up picking the Transformation jacket for Susan because it seemed to have more features, for less money.

I like that look, but don't think I'd care for the orange race stripe on the underneath part...I know it's a sacrilige to not like Black and orange clothing, but orange looks terrible on me, and matches nothing on my bike.  I love the B/O or O/B bikes, but for me, the clothes don't work.  I'm thinking this new jacket will do the trick for our upcoming trip in July and for our Hot Springs GTG.

One has to remain fashionable, you know....just ask d00d. ;)

This is true. :2vrolijk_21: I've probably got every color kerchief that Wally World sells so I can match them to my t-shirts  as bandanna's. On the black t-shirts I try to find the second dominant color and accent it w/a bandanna of close to or of that color.

Dear Hints from d00d,

This weekend I am planning on wearing my new green HD t-shirt, I'll be on a razor red bike.  What color kerchief should I carry to accent my ensemble without looking like a Christmas ornament.

Dear Mr. dood,

If my socks do not match, even when unseen (boots) - is this a fashion faux paus?

It all depends on if you're wearing a helmet or not? Wearing a helmet it will not be a problem as only a small portion will be seen and for the most part passerby's (or those you pass) will only be primarily focusing on your shiny red bike w/all it's chrome. Now if you are not wearing a helmet I suggest you either grow or wear a big white beard/moustache and passerby's (or those you pass) will just think it's Christmas. ;D

Thanks, your a life saver.  I'll go with the white beard idea.

I'll also get a nifty red fur hat  :xmas: and a new vanity plate that says "Rudolf"  That should do it.
