3. Luggage Bag that attach's to the rack on top of the Tour pack  :nixweiss:

I was reading some old threads and across this......

I found the following at Motorcyclecruiser.com;

Quote
Wet weight: 848 lb 56% rear wheel
GVWR: 1259 lb

This gives #411 for rider, passenger and all of the gear.

Is this a correct  :nixweiss:

I was thinking it was around 450# for the Ultra.

Doesn't leave much room for passenger and luggage, does it?  Most of the luggage racks say don't put more than 10lbs on them, but that is commonly exceeded.  Buy gear that is multipurpose, and that you can wash out in the sink and dry overnight.  Poly products work well...cotton products suck.  Teach the BSR that she does not need a differnt t-shirt for each night and day, and a different pair of jeans every day.  Riding jeans, night jeans, a pair of comfortable shoes (like Merrels) for night.  Stinky t-shirts to ride in don't matter.  One saddlebag for her chit, one for yours (your's is also going to contain the tool kit), then the TP is for stuff you need to get to on the trip, though usually some of the BSR's stuff gets in there somehow.  Luggage rack is for light gear like rainsuits, fleece jackets, etc.

Or...get a trailer....

My Owner Manual States the same...

GVWR   1259lbs
GAWR Front  500lbs
GAWR Rear  827lbs

Is the 827lbs the total Weight of me, my passenger and the carry on Luggage ?

I would believe that is what they are recommending. I think the load rating on a stock tire is somewhere close to 900lbs.

C/B here is a website that has check lists of items that you may need. Pull up the "credit card camping" check list to see what you'll need to pack.

Hope this helps some.

GVWR is bike, driver/passsenger/luggage.  Total weight is not SUPPOSED to exceed GVWR.  Stock rear tire is rated for approximately 930lbs, which is where most of the extra weight will be.

I was thinking it was around 450# for the Ultra.

Here's a shot of the specs for the FLHTCUSE3 on the website. They don't give the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating), but 1259# is the correct number for the '07s. Doing the math (1259 - 901) says 358# of rider, passenger and luggage until you exceed Gross Weight limit.

It's a ridiculous number because it is violated more often than the 55 MPS speed limit.

No one here ever exceeds that I'm sure as it wouldn't be prudent. :)
