The HD demo truck came through town last week with I beleive 16 2012 models.  I rode the '12 SERG and I agree with the majority in this thread.  After getting my '09 the way I like it, it will take something special to get me to buy something new.  Besides, I'm not crazy about the "blacked out" look.  Give me the chrome on the '09 any day.

Honesty, I have no intentions to trade my 2009 CVO ROAD GLIDE!

Last of the "Hand Built CVO's", Last year of the Road Glides, first year of the new frame.

Plus, I have mine dialed in and have too money $$$ into it, would never get it back and

because I have the "Yellow Pearl", it's more rare then the other 2009 color schemes.

Not to mention all the problems that seems to be happening to the newer models.

Also, the Fastest!   :2vrolijk_21:

Ride Safe,

YELLOWBIRD
I agree with all you said, except, about the color mine’s Orange, which I obviously like more than your color. :orange:

I always look at the new models and will continue to look and who knows  :nixweiss: if something jumps out at me like the SG did well I might have an addition to my collection  ;) however should a tri glide become a member of the CVO family that would be hard to pass.

I'm not "exactly" in the market for another bike but I'll look anyway. I still like the 09's as that is the bike that would replace my 01, undecided between the Silver or Orange.............. Eagles over skulls.... :2vrolijk_21:

Just my $.02 but I'll most likely stick with my yellow eagle though we all will look.  I sold my 2004 RG to get the SERG though the '04 was a great bike with a built 103" motor and every extra I wanted.  For me it was the step up to a "Screamin' Eagle," the '09 technology (frame, motor, rear swing arm, larger tires, ABS Brembos), and the new look of the rear end with the dropped bags and flush fender.  That seemed like a big jump and worth the money.  I have gone overboard making the SERG my own (though maybe not by CVO Harley standards), see here:  SERG at 2.75 Yrs. Enhancements Continue?? Still in Love!?

No offense to anyone who traded their '09 for a '12 but why?  Color?  I can accept that.  Skulls over Eagles?  Not for me.  There was no significant new technology.  So a trade from an '09 to a '12 seems to me to be a "purchase of passion," and not reason.  For '13, we already (think we) know the motor has no significant changes.  I'm sure there will be the usual HD upgrades to paint schemes and at least a couple of "must have upgrades."  But.... the wet motor is coming.  Not this year but not very far away.  That is technology that will motivate my to look seriously at a new bike.  I'd ask the '12 purchasers, what did you get in your "upgrade" and what did it cost you?  I did not see a significant return there and don't see one for '13.  Now, let us see what they look like when they come out....

GK

That's a good read.

Since I'm on an 01 I have been looking at the 09's (My second favorite year) however for not that much more I can be on a 3 year (12) newer bike (The looks will have to grow on me).  Chrome for 09 or Black for the 12. I do like how easy it is to keep my black wheels clean, chrome is evil and will eventually pit!!!!  ;)

I found a dealer that ONLY charged list for my 2012 SERG, most (even with the economy in the tank) wanted $3-4K over list.
I put matching tour pack, lowers and true duals on mine , running it back up the additional $3-4 k but I couldnt be happier.  First RG for me, first touring model for me ,, been on Soft tails for the past 20+ years.

Only disappointment for me is that there's no air ride

I'm a believer, if not glide'n your not ride'n

I will look at them, I like motorcycles... :P

Same here... but they would have to improve on the color scheme of my current ride to even consider.... scratch that.  I am very happy with my current ride... and once I have the saddlebag speaker lids painted and installed it will be perfect for me (I still can't understand why it was not given the same mod treatment as the Street Glide CVO  :nixweiss: ).

Just like you Billygiles i have ridden softails for the last 16 years and got a wild hair and went to the dealer to check out the CVO softail and ended up with the SERGC. Absolutely love it (even sold my softail after I got used to the RG because I knew I would never want to ride it again) and cant believe how much I am enjoying it. I actually prefer not having the lowers but I did change the suspension to Ohlin 6's in the rear and the Harley premium cartridges in the front that really made it perfect. I am also not a big fan of flames and loved the "smoke" graphics with skulls that this year had...

I'll keep my 2001 SERG with 2700 miles. Yes! 2700 miles purchased new I have all the accessories. Rare bike compared to some of the SE's. Removed the M&M FI and install a Mikuni with S&S 570 cam gear drive, SE compression release heads, SE roller lifters and rockers with a two into one exhaust it now moves!

The new ones are (BLINK) overpriced and the image has changed. Their electronic thottle by wire system sucks! I owned seven Harley and my 2001 was the last. Dealers are money hungry scumbags in the New England area. They still thing they have a unique product! I guess they finally got some brakes on the bike thanks to Brembo. I can work on mine. The new ones need to go back to harley to have the simple maintenance problems squared away.

I had two FXSTS and I could never figure out why they called them Softails? The ride is terrible. My XR1000 rode better than my FXSTS's and that bike was nothing more than a Hi-Po Sportster.

Yeah your correct! I also had three motorcycles 96 FXSTS and a 99 BMW K1200 LTC. I figured the SERG would fall into a collectors grade because for the years I heard Harley was not going to make another SERG. When your in Raytheon Management on a PATRIOT missile program your traveling all over the place with little time to scratch your arse.  My 96 Springer and my BMW collected all the miles. I did the same thing with a 1984 XR-1000 that I purchased new in 1997 for $5500 from Seacoast Harley. I sold that years ago for $11K the only time I ever made a nickel on a motorcycle.
