Title: broke leg
Post by: willymax4 on March 14, 2011, 03:26:04 PM
had surgery last monday to repair a displaced fracture of my fibula in my right lower leg. the doc installed a plate and a couple screws and says not to walk for six to eight weeks. it's a good thing it happened when it did cause riding season here in the frozen wasteland also known as north dakota starts about then.

Good luck
wishing a fast recovery, so a short riding season does not get shorter

Yep. I crashed last June 2010. Broken fib and tib, and shoulder. Had a metal rod put in from the ankle to the knee and one from the elbow to the shoulder. Just started riding again last month. Sorry about your break. Give it time to heal. Physical therapy is very important.

Good timing!   :2vrolijk_21:

As long as you have the time, don't rush the healing process.  You're gonna need your leg for a long time!   ;)

Take it from someone that has had major surgery (hip replaced) follow doctors orders, rehab when they say you can and do as much as they say you can. Nothing worse then not following their instructions and having a set back. Good luck, heal fast, and be back in the wind soon. :2vrolijk_21:

No break is good but better the fib than the tib.  You will be back at it much sooner.  Take care and do what the doc says.  :2vrolijk_21:

I have to agree. Shattered the top of my tibia 3 yrs ago. They had to put in a Ti plate and 9 screws. It still hurts. Take care of the leg and do the rehab and you'll be back riding in no time.

That's weird. Surgery for the fibula I mean. The fibula has more of a cosmetic effect in the leg . The weight bearing bone is the tibia. Anyway good luck get better.

got a hard cast put on my leg on monday and the doc says it'll be four more weeks minimum before the cast comes off then probably a couple sessions a week of physical therapy for another four weeks before i can hit the ground running again.
on the bright side, we just got another foot of snow on tuesday so no one around here will be back in the saddle any time soon.

Man, is it just me or does that leg look all red and swollen???  Wait a sec (putting on glasses).......  oh, crap, nevermind.

Heal up quick, save some meds for the rehab (guaranteed to be a Nurse Rachett-type), and the road will be ready when you are!

FYI........easy with that "hit the ground" comment!!
