I'm sure most of us dont think about the clothing we have on can do damage.  Have to be double careful with a passenger too.   Can never be too careful when getting ready to get on the road on 2 wheels   :nixweiss:

Several years ago I ran a similar type call... Rider on a crotch rocket had a jacket not properly secured on back seat... jacket got loose and ended up lodged between the fender, chain, and rear wheel causing the wheel to lock up throwing the rider into a guardrail which took off his arm just below his shoulder.

Learned my lesson years ago. My BSR's boot lace caught in the sproket, locking rear wheel briefly. The heavy lace broke away quickly, preventing a bad spill. Always check loose clothing now!!!!

I know a guy from Mich that had his leather jacket come loose that was strapped to his seat that got into the rear wheel. He knew some was wrong and when he seen what was happening he tried to pull the jacket free while riding, well just like that it pulled his hand in causing him to leave the road going into a ditch and striking a series of small trees. Not good..... Cut a fuel line and ignited setting the bike on fire. Worst part of this was he was trapped on the bike with his badly mangled hand caught in the rear wheel. He was severely burned on his upper torso and neck area, had his thumb almost severed and was put in a induced coma for 3 weeks but survived. He was riding a softail custom on a country road not heavily traveled but luckily a lady and her daughter seen him go off the road and stopped to try and help put out the fire till rescue arrived.
Sure wish he had just pulled off the road and stopped to remove the jacket as this accident change his life forever and is dis figured and on total disability from work.

This is exactly why I ride naked whenever possible.  It's a safety issue...

Serious and tragic stories... Right up to the Riding Naked part...  Love the humor !!!    :bananarock:

Lose items on a bike are never good... :o

So far I've not had to deal with unanticipated LOCK UPS...  But have heard story after story about luggage and jeans and laces... many things that can get caught up...  None of it ever ended good.

Thanks for sharing folks...
Always good reminders.
focus focus focus...  riding is serious fun.

Peace

Sure, no worse than any other distraction......Oh, you mean for the rider.....more exposed skin to hot metal not to mention flying debris and hail stones.  Sure.  Why not?  Get drunk 1st tho, so you have an excuse for later.  har.  spyder

Ridin nekid is funny to talk about but I cringe everytime I see one or two on a bike both having little more than shorts, cut off t-shirts and flip-flops (or barefoot... :confused5:).  All I can picture is the results of a spill and what that asphault and/or gravel will be doing to that exposed skin as it scrapes down the highway..... :(

Been down before...shattered my scapula...cracked my full face Arther Fulmer helmet (dating myself here) but no scapes or scratches because I had CLOTHES ON!   :bananarock:
