Noise from speakers with the radio off?
« on: March 13, 2013, 07:16:18 AM »

I had the ignition on with the radio off (tinkering with the Power Vision) and I heard a faint hiss from the left saddlebag speaker.  I put my ear to the left fairing speaker and it was there too, as well as the right saddlebag speaker.  Is that normal?  The only thing that I can think of is that the amps power up even if the radio is off.  Should I be concerned about it?  Thanks.

That's new technology at work. All the extra speakers are where the loud engine sounds will come from in the future after Harleys go green and have electric water cooled motors.  ;D

I asked this same question a few months back on my 2013 CVO Road Glide because I noticed that with the ignition on and the radio off I could hear the hiss in all the speakers.  I took it to the shop for other work and asked them to check it out, they reported that the Motor Company said it was normal and its because of the powered amp.  I wasn't sure if others had the same experience but it sounds like your 2012 CVO Street Glide is doing the same thing.

Good reason to use a battery maintainer....
