Title: Windshields
Post by: ad2 on November 05, 2007, 11:51:15 AM
Does a windshield from a standard Road King fit the brackets on the SERK? I assumed they did, but a friend gave me his full shield from his RK and I can't get it to fit the brackets?!

Am I right that there is no way to adjust the brackets up/down after changing to the HD Passing Lights?

To the best of my knowledge the SERK comes with a 7 across 1 down mounting bracket and the standard RK has a
5 across bracket. I don't know if the holes will line up.  Not sure about the pass light issue. There is a seller on ebay
with some taller replacement shields that are priced very reasonable.

If you're talking about whether a new complete windshield assembly will fit on the SERK, yes. I purchased a mid-low RK windscreen and it fits without any problem.  However, if you mean will a full size replacement lexan fit the SERK deflector's hardware, no. As previously noted, the deflectors and shields have different mounting patterns.
With regard to the passing lamp relocation, there is a 10 buck kit needed for any windshields with the custom passing lamp brackets. I don't know if you are using a standard RK passing lamp bracket, but I think that should fit without any additional hardware.

Yes, no problem with windshield replacement. I put the stock shield in a box, and picked up a used standard windshield frame and added a new Plexiglas from HD. Fit great.
