Title: Liners for CVO saddlebags with speakers
Post by: SEsupply2 on May 11, 2019, 03:43:26 PM
Has anybody installed any type or brand of liner on a set of CVO extended saddlebags that have lid speakers?
I inquired about a set of Advanblack liners as i used one of their tour pak liners and was impressed with it. I was concerned about how it fit the bottom of the HD bags as they were made for their bags and how it would work around the speaker wiring. I test fitted it the best I could and wasn't happy how it fit the bottom with the rubber tits sticking thru and the different levels at the bottom, or how it fit around the wiring as I didn't want to to cut it to fit better.

What is everybody using if you are using a liner, would like it removable so if it has to be glued in that not an option. Thanks

Me 3. I've been using the liners that came off my old CVO which don't correctly fit on either bike.

At least the old ones are 'softer' than the new ones........the new ones catch and break the stickies.

Yes, these are beautiful liners and match the shape of our bags, but the concern is that they do not address the cutouts for the speaker amp in the left bag, and the wiring and connections in both bags. For bags without speakers, they are great, but I wouldn't want to buy a set and start making holes in them for wires and amps etc. without having the edges sewn up nice and neat as the come in a custom professional manner. That's what we are looking for sir.    Thanks, Larry P.

I went with custom saddlebag liners on my last 2 bikes and though they are not removable as you glue them in (or I did) the materiel is very thin and malleable so easy to get them around all the “stuff” you need it to. Have held up very well and look terrific. Below is their website:

Thanks for all the links. I'd have to cut a hole in them regardless for the 12v accessory outlet anyway.

So I didn’t feel like spending a lot for mine and did something similar in my ‘12. I bought a carpet kit off of amazon and just cut it for the speaker connections.

I like these because they are thin and stay in place after being glued in. I just use a spray adhesive and then some contact cement around the edges where it didn’t stick all the way. Takes some time and patience to get it fit right and on there smooth.

I keep some tool bags in the extended part so to make it nice and clean I made a template for a bottom piece.

Then I cut out some plastic and added the carpet to the rest.

All in all about 55$ and a few hours of work.

I just added the Advanblack liners to a 2020 with the speakers. They fit pretty good. The wires seem to stay tucked down and I just added a few extra strips of Velcro to help keep them tight in those areas. The only part that annoys me a bit is where the amplifier is located in the left bag. It’s not ideal, but I’m not going to cut them either. It will serve my purpose of providing some protection to contents in my bags. I think they will settle in a bit more after continued use.
