Title: 117 piston set up
Post by: bakon on November 07, 2017, 09:18:32 PM
Harley 110 to 117 kits...
Did anyone have to do any work to the rings before install to set up correctly? Out of the box for right or need some work?
Thanks

Ring gap was fine on mine. No filing needed

Specs in instructions?
Or just .004*bore?
 004x4.125= .0165

None ended up needing anything done out of box, until I broke the bottom oil ring installing. Wait a week for a new set....fudge!

Interesting information on Hastings site on ring gap.   At least worth the look as they make a vast majority of the rings anyhow as the oem.

Summit has a great tool with a diamond blade just go slow.   The hat piece for it works great at setting the rings evenly in the cylinder for measuring.   Saves a TON of time.
