Title: FXSE motor upgrade over 117
Post by: dhammond on September 18, 2018, 10:41:35 AM
Wanting to upgrade my motor to put hp/tq in the 130+ range and keep the bike streetable and reliable for the long term. Which parts of my original motor (110ci) can i keep to achieve this. Anyone know of a good performance shop near Ohio that could help with this?

JW Performance is up there in Ohio. He's on here, look him up. (130/130 is doable with a 110 too btw)

Yeah you could keep it 110 or go up to 124
Either way, 120hp+ and I would upgrade crank even if you stay with stock stroke.

130hp in this bike would be nutball. Maybe this winter for me if it can be done on all SE parts and worked heads.

What color is your bike?

I've been getting 130/130 out of converted 103s (to 110), So it's definitely doable. You need to get
the heads worked on to get you there however.

Don't know what heads are on there now, but if a 103 head can be made to do it, so can the others.

I have the white/black option

Is the Stage IV Screaming Eagle 117 kit the way to go? What numbers can u expect with Stage IV 117 kit? (Just kit alone, no other mods) Or is it better to just upgrade components al a carte?

if looking for maximum reliability, look into a 124" build.easy to get 140/140 om a VERY mild build with much better longevity & reliability than stock

Yep. Cubic inches is the most reliable route to more TQ (HP). The old addage, "there's no replacement for displacement" still rings true.

The kit alone will not do 130/130.

I bought 117" cylinders and pistons from Suburban speed shop, then pieced things together from the advice of my builder/tuner to achieve a reliable high mileage 130+/130+.  It involved headwork and higher compression than what the Harley kit starts you out at.

This is right. The 117" is a good choice with head work. Even the SE259 can work but there are better choices from Cyclerama and Tman.
