Title: Rear tire cupping on the D407
Post by: 09S/E roadglide on November 17, 2009, 08:18:01 PM
I took the RG to the dealer today in regards to the rear tire. I spoke to MoCO customer service and Dunlop nether are willing to do anything about the problem. According to them there is no problem with the rear. I am not a happy camper  right now ! I will speak to Dunlop tomorrow and see how far up there a$$ i can fit.  :nixweiss:

I was just told the same thing about the rear.  Yes there is a front issue.  No there is no rear issue.

Under inflation can be the cause  :nixweiss: Had a similiar situation in Sturgis this year and had to make a unexpected stop at the Metzeler tent. The Rep stated regardless of what tire brand you are running, ALWAYS set tire(s) at "max cold setting and ride on  :2vrolijk_21:

BINGO!!! PUT MORE AIR IN EM IF THEY START CUPPING! It'll actually correct the cupping if it's not too bad! ;)

Ditto the bingo!

I think somebody screwed the pooch on inflation pressures with these things...Pay attention to your butt riding and adjust it til it feels better.

I am at 42-43 in the new 408 front and 44ish in the 407 rear..

I did increase the pressure and it helped it out bunches. The damage has already been done :'( looks like some circle doughnuts to fix the rest of the tire ! when I say fix I mean wear it off so I can get a new one  :orange:

Watch it Rick, they see burnt rubber inside your rear fender, it might be game over (unless you plan on paying yourself)! If that's the case, have at it! ;)

And don't forget.....

Miker,

Thanks,

john

Tom,

I have always run the reccommended cold pressures on my bikes.  But they all had the 402's.  Obviously these new tires are a different animal.

My dealer gave me no hassle about my rear tire they measured it and there was 3/32" difference from the low to high side. Replaced under warranty.
Nice to have a dealer that cares. The front tire was also replaced account cupped.
