Due to the difficulty accessing the tire filler valves on the 08 SE Ultra, I've decided to maintain the tire pressures from home.  Any recommendations for air pumps (manual or electric) would be welcome.  Thanks.

If you are after a bike only compressor this one is fine. You can carry it on the bike also.

I have my tire repair kit in the same case as the compressor.

Get a 120 volt compressor from Craftsman (or one of their competitors).  When you're not using it to maintain your bikes tires, you can use it on your cars, fire up some air tools, spray some paint, use it with a blow gun attachment to clean stuff, etc.  Once you have a real compressor, you can then work on justifying a pneumatic bike lift.  Buying a compressor is very similar to buying a Harley; it's just a starting point.

Check out Harbor Freight. They have a wide selection of compressors at very good prices. I have a 7.5hp vertical multistage w/60 gallon tank Campbell Hausfield that I paid $750 for.

That's a nice size portable pump. It looks a tad smaller tha the Slime version I carry.

I have the Slime one also - but it's only good for like 20 min at a time, not heavy duty use...

I have a 5hp compressor in my shop, but I use it for my nail guns and air tools also.

I have found it a PITA to try to use a standard car tire air chuck.   I have a portable air compressor that I keep in the back of my 'hoe that seems to work just fine.   The key is to have a hose connection that is flexible and short.    My two cents.   good luck with your search.
