Dash mount Zumo Road Glide
« on: April 10, 2009, 01:09:52 AM »

The Road Tech Zumo doesn't come with a dash kit for the Road Glide, so I made something.

I opened up the upper right gauge pod for the GPS mount by moving the Volts gauge down & the Oil Pressure to the left side (replacing the outside temp).  The adaptation was pretty easy once I figured out how to do it.  Just had a few large thin washers machined to spec & sandwiched the dash lip (at the gauge pod) in between.  Solid as a rock - check it out:

Volt meter looks to be significantly obstructed.  How much can you see from the saddle?

I don't know yet, but I'll check it out.  If it were the fuel or oil gauge I'd care more.

I'll take a pic from my eye while sitting on the seat.

I have a rubber grommet for the wiring that requires a 2nd hole.  I guess I could drill a 2nd hole in the washers, offset to mount the Zumo higher, and then use the center hole for the wiring.  That might work.  Just dialing this thing in - thanks for the thought.

Much better than I thought.  No cheating -- this pic was taken direct from my line of sight, sitting in the saddle.  I'm 6'2, so I sit more to the high side & still no problem.

When it's all done, windshield back in place, everything adjusted just right etc., I'll take another pic.  So far so good!!  :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks!  Feeling pretty good about it.  One of my better ideas if I do say so myself.   :jalapeno:

I LIKE IT!!!

Now I'm just wondering which gauge I can afford to lose on my CUSE.....
Maybe the oil temp cause it is always reading WAY too high anyways....

Very nicely done man!

Don't mean to step on any toes (if you're selling the tank door mount), but Harley sells a batwing dash mount for $40.  I wanted a dash mount for my RG so I wouldn't need to look down while navigating (to say nothing of the wiring hassle with tank door mount).
