« on: April 10, 2009, 11:00:35 AM »

I really haven't heard too much about any '09s with the head gasket leaks that are prevalent on the '07's.  anybody out there got any news on the '09 110?

Have seen 1 so far and heard of one other.   Not quite as plaguing, but i understand the one I saw was related to the compression releases not working and the 220 cranking compression.   /shrug

The heat, stress on the whole head gasket (cylinders root cause), issues gets much better when the cylinder pressure is lowered by the change of a cam.

i'm no expert but I read a lot and filter tidbits based on my experience as a mechanic and part time racer.

I realyy believe that you are spot on with the cam as the culprit.

Two years ago while on the fall foliage ride with Neal and several members, one member had the 110 with a cam and tuned and side by side, his 110 SERK was 50-60 degrees cooler (and faster)

We have modified over a dozen 110"s via headwork, cam change, HPI t/body, pipe swap, tune. NO issues with heat, head gaskets, liners moving(?) etc, etc. Just fast, fun.

The only problem with any cam swap is the fact that you void your warrinty, Shifted flywheels come to mind as I have had one let go on me. Also I just had some major problems with my 09 SERG and MOCO is replacing it, If I had any mods on the bike that the area Rep. did not like, I am sure I would be eating the one that just let goe.   But I do agree with the heat issues.  Doc
