Hogtunes vs. Hawg Wired
« on: July 16, 2009, 06:18:13 PM »

The question is: Are the Hawg wired systems with amp & 2 speakers really $485 better than the Hogtunes system with amp & 2 speakers? ($825 vs. $340)

Hogtunes rates at 32 watts/channel, the Hawg Wired at 75 watts/channel. Is the difference significant at 75-90 mph?

Again, thanks in advance to the best board online...

You might want to read about the HW two channel system here:  Hawg-Wired Amp's Rock!!

I'm taking my hog tunes out. I was very disappointed with it. Way to much distortion. I can only turn up the volume 1/2 way and then the tunes sound like crap. There's a saying that makes a whole lotta sense. Ya get what ya pay for. ...........................FUZZ

Another Vote For Hawg-Wired :2vrolijk_21:

I bought the Hog Tune speakers they are way better than stock but there is distortion when you turn them up.  After reading all the threads on Hawg-Wired I decided to spend the money for this upgrade.

There is no comparison - 2-Lane said it best - You hear sounds you did not even know where there.  Do a search for Hawg-Wired there is alot of info.

IMHO - If you like to ride and listen to tunes or want to have the best sound when you do listen to music then buy the Hawg-Wired it is worth the money.  If you don't listen to tunes that much when you ride but want an improvement then Hog Tunes is an economical choice or just leave it stock.

Also one more thing to think about the quality of cd's and digital music (ipod's, mp3's etc.) has a MUCH better quality sound than a radio and when playing these formats there is no comparison with the Hawg-Wired setup.

If you decide to buy the Hawg-Wired my suggestion is contact Jim (hd-dude) that is who I purchased my setup from , he is very fair and very knowledgeable.

Don't think twice, get the Hawg Wired. Really nice. You'll forget about the price difference after the first ride and say " I'm glad I did it"

well here's my 2 cents. I have the HT speakers and amp setup, used the rear speaker wire for my lower fairing 2ohm HT speakers. at 80mph it sounds awesome. here's what I did to help, the back of my lowerpods i lined with DynaMatt to stop and resonance, and added some stips of it in my upper fairing near the speakers, (this should be done no matter what system you use). also have the Clearview GT stock windshield which helps the sound.
all HK stereo's will distort over 3/4 volume, thats including auto vol control. I set my ipod at full blast, adjust the stereo at 1/2 tops, maybe a little lower. It's loud.
My buddy has the HW system, it's loud too but not near as much bass as I have. and near 500 $ more for his.
I'm happy with HT

I'll make this simple:
Yes and Yes.
The HW DCS is 65 watts (10 watts lower than their other) and I only use 50% volume to rock and roll at 75 to 90 mph.

It's a matter of time before I get into mine again.  Unfortunately HT just doesn't cut it for me.  It's OK if you want something in the background while you're riding, but if you to crank it forget it.  Should have gone HW in the first place.
