Help Zumo 660 instal
« on: September 14, 2009, 10:50:12 PM »

Just bought a Harley zumo 660. There is nothing in the package that shows how to connect the wire harness. Any help? Also does anyone know if I can buy the cradle that bolts up to the 660 that I could run the lighter connection to? What came with it is the one for an auto suction cup and the one that has all the wires for the direct power for the bike. I'm trying to figure out if I can bolt it to a cradle that has no hard wires but a plug for the cig lighter

Harley does it again. Go back to the dealer and buy the mount; there are 2 one mounts for the bars and one for the fairing.

Just Harley’s way of saying thanks for spending more then you had too. The mounts should have the wiring instructions but I'm not sure about that part. Maybe Harley charges for that also.

You will end up paying about $200.00 more for the Harley version of the Zumo 660 then if you had just bought a Zumo 660.

I just love Harley when it comes to accessories.

If you purchase from Jenni at Tri-County Harley it cost $599.95. The handlebar mount that HD sells it not very appealing. I am using a Techmount.

I guess I will figure out the mount to use. Right now the issue is what all these wires are for.

Black = Negative 12
Red = Positive 12
Mini Stereo = stereo output for Aux Input on radio
Mono Input = Microphone
Mini USB = Traffic Reciever

Mike

If you want to purchase the antenna for traffic you plug the antenna into the USB port.

The 2.5mm mono input is for a microphone. If you want to pair the Zumo to your cell phone you can make and receive phone calls using your helmet mounted microphone. To do this you will need to purchase an interface unit such as the HD Bluetooth Bomm, CellSet by Kennedy or the J&M unit.

The stereo output is a 3.5mm and is used to connect the output of the Zumo to the AUX input port on the front of the bike's radio. You will need to buy a 3.5mm (1/8") Stereo extension cable for this.

In order to hear turn directions or a phone call you need to use the stereo extension cord or buy an FM modulator.

Hope this helps you out.

If you want to hear the turn directions from the Zumo you will need the extension cable or an FM modulator. The cable will only run you 5 to 10 bucks depending on what you buy and where. You can find them at Wal-Mart or Radio Shack.

If you don't want to make or receive a phone call then you don't need to buy any thing else. If you do then check the suggestions I listed out, they all have their benefits.

I have the 660 as it came from H-D  and it included the cable to hook up to the Aux. input on the radio.  Look in the box - I don't think they threw in something extra just for me. ;D

Actually I find that having a gps on board gives me the freedom to try out new roads and explore areas that I don't know.  I can head down any road that pleases me and ride all day.  When I've had enough adventure for the day, all I have to do is hit "home" and the gps will guide me there without worrying.   As Yogi Berra said.  "When you come to a fork in the road...take it".

cheers!
