Fairing mounted antenna
« on: September 27, 2009, 12:41:08 PM »

I am looking to move to one of those fairing mounted antennas on my SESG. My problem is this--I had one a few years back on my 06 that was horrible. The radio would lose stations constantly. I see some people hear use the tune trapper on their bikes. Is it any better or is there something else I should look at that will give as good reception as that ugly stock one hanging off the back of the bike?

There is nothing that will give as good reception as the whip. For the hidden units the Tune trapper is the best that I have seen and used.

I replaced the whip with the Kuryakyn 12"--it's ok looking but I still would like to get rid of the whole thing.

I found some short thing too,  about 15" tall and pretty plain looking.. Does get pretty good reception so I'm sticking with it..  I try not to pay any attention to it also.

The advantage to the tall whip (work w/ me here, I'm trying hard to be positive) is that you won't put you eye out on it when bending over the rear of the scooter as you can with the Street Glide antenna.  AND, it gets great reception.  har!  :drink: spyder
