wanted to start by saying this site is great!
i just bought a 2000 FXR4 with 10,000 miles on it. paid 9,000 for it the spent a few thousand more for silly sh*t. very compulsive. i am a coalminer and was trapped underground alittle over a year ago in a roof fall and hurt my arm pretty bad. This bike was a gift to myself for making it out.I remember these bikes when they first came out and thinking that i wish i was the guy who could buy one of those....well ten years later i finally did. I have an electra glide too but this bike meant something to me.
anyway i have a few questions.
1. can i get a 150 in the rear? it has a 130 on it now but it looks so skinny. would i have to turn the strut bolts around to get even a 140 in there?
2. would like to lower the bike alittle alll the way around. Best set-up?
3. Bought a SE big sucker air cleaner and after instal i notice that it is back firing through the exhaust at low rpm. like if i were in third gear putttin and rolled into the throttle. any advice on best setting for the carb? air/idle mixture screw and size of jet?
i put a dyna 2000 ignition module on it and it is set at 7,000.
 just looking for alittle advice.
thanks for hanging out,
Coaldigger,
illinois

Welcome aboard from Minnesota coaldigger! Glad you've joined the fun.  I am sure you will get plenty of valuable advice on your questions. There are some avid FXR owners on this board and I know of a few that would be honored to assist with the emptying of your wallet.

Welcome aboard man! What a close call, and even better gift to yourself as a reward! Enjoy that great bike man! You want suggestions. Best way is to see them live and talk to other owners. I've got just the place for you to do that too! I hope you can join us at our FXR GTG next June in Maggie Valley, NC! We'd love to meet you and your new bike! Hope to see you there!!! :2vrolijk_21:

Welcome Coaldigger !!!

1. can i get a 150 in the rear?
not without making some changes and spending a bunch of money, that won't really return much to you

it has a 130 on it now but it looks so skinny. would i have to turn the strut bolts around to get even a 140 in there?
No, you can run a 140 in there, but make sure that it is CENTERED !! IT is a VERY TIGHT FIT .... I used to run a 140 on mine, did not require any changes !

2. would like to lower the bike alittle alll the way around. Best set-up?
OH MAN, don't do it .... it is already closer to the ground than all the other bikes .... you'll be draggin all over the place.  I'd like to have MORE ground clearance !!  makes for taking the twisties faster and SAFER !!

3. Bought a SE big sucker air cleaner and after instal i notice that it is back firing through the exhaust at low rpm. like if i were in third gear putttin and rolled into the throttle. any advice on best setting for the carb? air/idle mixture screw and size of jet?
Put the Sposter jet in there ..... should be able to find info on that, lots of guys have done that for the 1340 EVO's

i put a dyna 2000 ignition module on it and it is set at 7,000.
Suggestion - move the rev limit back to 6K .... you're not getting anymore power up there, you CAM is past it's limit to make power (if stock) at about 4500

 just looking for alittle advice.
thanks for hanging out,
