According to the owner's manual for my 2007 FLHTCUSE2 the GVWR (which is the sum of the weight of the motorcycle, accessories, and the maximum weight of the rider, passenger and cargo that can be safely carried) is 1,259 pounds.  The weight of the motorcycle as shipped from the factory is 859 which leaves 400 pounds for fuel, rider, passenger, accessories and cargo.  I would think that there is some 'margin of error' built into the moco's specs but who knows?  :nixweiss:

Last weekend I saw, on a Heritage, a VERY large guy and Gal on the bike, I mean he was VERY VERY heavy and she was not far behind him, I was wondering about the weight issue right there and then.........  in fact I was wondering just how they even got on the bike, watching them get off was "breath taking"......  Well, at least they enjoying riding together. (doubt that rear tire lasts too long)

:orange:  Yeah my wife called me on day ROFLOL when she saw this very large woman (and I mean very large from the way she described it) on the back seat of a sportster with this skinny guy driving it!  She darn near wrecked the car laughing so hard.  She said you could not see the saddle bags and barley the tail light on the fender.  But like you said at least they were out enjoying the ride!  I gotta say that must have been hard to control the traction on the front wheelie!  :orange:

I have seen guys that go over 300 with women over 250 on HD's and they seem to keep on going.  By the way some have not been a pretty site if you know what I mean.

i run a sidecar

im about 377  my wife is 190 or so... right at max rear axle wt with that combo...i dont think the trikes have as high a load rating as the sidecar does, 1600lb~

in 35 years of riding bikes - ive ruined a lot of shocks.. broken and worn out swing arm bushings, fork bushings, springs, bearings... etc

had one tire lose its tread

but im not giving up - im running a 15" car tire on the rear - over 1000 capacity.

new softails have wheels that will hold 205 r17 car tires

its one of those things

give up or deal with it

ill keep riding

Thought about trying a car tire on the rear of my 06 SE Fatboy because of the longevity of it. Tire of the 5500 mile tire change, especially since I don't lay it down in the curves anyway, although I have scraped the extended floorboards a couple times.

There are two things to think of, I suggest. One is to use higher tyre pressures than stock, to compensate for the extra weight, the other is doing the same with your rear shocks. Stock shocks are likely to be so compressed you won't have much travel left, so new shocks built for you will put that right. Stiffer front fork springs will probably also help improve your ride. Best thing is to speak to a suspension specialist for advice and parts.
