Hard Chrome Double D Exhaust
« on: February 14, 2006, 04:35:14 PM »

Anyone out there running DG's Hard Chrome Double D - 3" True Dual Exhaust?  This is the double walled exhaust. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Any experiences good or bad?  (Power, sound, cost, installation)

Thanks,
TB [smiley=jalapeno.gif]

kng103,

This setup is different...I believe they refer to them as T-Rex Duals. Full length heat shields included, kind of a pipe in a pipe setup. They offer two muffler's 3" or 4" diameter. They looked nice on the bike at the V Twin Expo but the sales person in the booth when I visited wasn't all that knowledgeable on this product. [smiley=confused5.gif]
TB probably run into the same sales person I did....since his questions were the same things I asked but never did get a staight answer at the show.......... [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Yup, didn't get many responses to my questions at the V-Twin show either.  They did look pretty cool.  With the pipe in a pipe, the outside diameter is absolutely massive giving a very muscular look.

Bikers Choice has a similar product called the Roadburner.  The same set-up but the fit was not a nice and the outlet from the rear cylinder had a very squared off appearance.

I had the Double D's on my evo WG.  Went through 3 sets of them.  They looked great, sounded great, but didn't hold up AT ALL.  The first set broke the rear mount for the upper pipe at the support.  The second set broke the front mount for the lower pipe.  The third -and last- set broke the heat shield on the rear pipe at the stand-off at the cylinder head.  The customer service was one of the worst I've dealt with- numerous phone calls trying to get warranty, after which only got an 8 week turn around.  No set lasted more than 200 miles.  This bike is essentially stock.  They don't make the Double D's anymore, when I called the last time.  I'll never buy another hard krome product- period.  caveat emptor.

I have the t-rex on my se roadking. The fit and finish is great. Pipes went on in about 25 minutes. They sound great and look awesome. It has a stepped header design also. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
