Auto fob lock
« on: August 11, 2014, 01:35:14 PM »

After locking the bags with fob, realized I forgot something in the right saddlebag. It didn't lock!! Something wrong with the mechanism, so be sure to check!!

That's one of the many reasons I prefer the good ol' manual method.  Until Harley gets their stuff to be at least half as reliable as other companies that offer central locking features, you are better off without the Harley version.  We see all kinds of reports of problems with the locks not working, or locking but failing to unlock, or the system having so little range that you have to have the fob within a few feet of the bike to make the system respond.  One more example of Harley not being able to even copy mature technology that other's have had for decades without screwing it up.

the only way this thing works is if you are within arms reach of the bike...it is kind of a joke...I can lock and unlock my car with my phone...harley is amazingly behind the times but as long as we keep buying them nothing will change...

I wouldn't call it a joke. I freakin' LOVE it. Hop off the bike, hit a button, and everything is locked. WAY faster and better than manually locking and unlockiing all four locks.

I does work!

I'm tired of listening of people piss on the MoCo.

So just get over it.  If you don't like Harley, go somewhere else.

There is a difference between constructive criticism and Bit@#ing  I have seen too much of the latter recently.

I am just drunk enough and sick enough to pipe off!

Of course you have seen many complaints.  Nobody posts when everything is just fine.  If you base your opinion on only the negative posts you see, you are only getting a small fraction of the true story.

Have a nice day.

Yup - must say I love the convenience. It was just a fluke that I found it un locked. Love the bike!

The "only" time mine has not locked with the FOB is if the latch was not engaged fully (all the way down) otherwise it works perfectly.

Thanks Amedd-SFC for writing what I have been thinking for a while. The '14 Limited is an amazing piece of technology. The Harley engineers did a great job. C

FOB locks and the new saddle bag latches are in a word, Awesome!!! Don't care how close you have to be and you don't scratch the paint with a key. Rushmore = Home run!
Thanks for listening Moco!

100% agree!! I do like my bike!! but, the fob almost never gets the tour pack latched. the ignition switch has locked and never unlocked on so many of 2011 that I never even bother locking the forks anymore.these are all things that I can live with but should not have to,at $40000.00 maybe, this thread helps some folks understand why some folks are disappointed in the moco http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/Themes/core/images/post/clip.gif

Mine has never let me down.. I love it so much easier than running around and locking everything including the forks.

Never had any problems with mine, they work well.

And as far as only working close range, well, I kinda like it that way, there's no chance of accidentally opening the locks after Iv'e walked away, gone around the corner and pressed the button while going for something else in pocket.
Done that a few times with cage sitting on fob at the bar,,, less impressive going back to car in car park finding it unlocked.

Granted I have only had the bike for a little over three weeks but I have never had it fail to lock as long as I do my job and make sure that all the latchs are properly engaged. I ride almost everyday to work and lock/unlock my stuff while inside. As far as having to be within feet of the bike, I also like it that way. Why would you need to unlock the bike from a distance of more than a few feet? If my wife forgot something and needs to retrieve it, I hand her the fob so that she can open it.
