License plate bracket breaking

(1/1)

Panhead_Jess:
When I got my FXDWG3, after a few weeks, I heard an anoying rattle from the back.  One of the flat bracket in the fender broke and made the license plate rattle.  Replaced it, then 1K miles later the other broke!

Contacted MoCo, but they said it never happens.  I mentioned that it looked like metal fatique and I'm willing to ship it to them for inspection.  The flat piece of metal was very pliable.

Now it's only 7K, and the license plate is rattling again...f*ck.  I'm thinking of using epoxy to bond the new plate to the rear fender instead of the double face tape that comes with it. [smiley=nixweiss.gif].

Shrimper:
Never had that problem with mine, but I have always been annoyed by the vibration rattle of the headlamp visor.

Panhead_Jess:
You could loosen the headlight cowling and reposition it to fit better and tighten the allen screws again.  You'll need a long allen extension.

If the little chome face plate on the front of the cowling is loose and vibrates, remove the cowling and just epoxy it.

Mine vibrates but no audible rattle.   Good luck

ironside:
Mine has 24,000 miles with the original license plate bracket.  No breaks or rattles.

VANAMAL:
