« on: June 17, 2020, 07:42:50 PM »

Before I got home lights came on again. Had not blown 15 but  Put 10 amp fuse back in Turn switch on checked fans both came on water pump had a little vibration not sure if from fans or pump running, swapped relays did not make any difference.  Has not blow fuse again but setting at idle the light come on and water goes up in reservoir hoses not hot  water pump? Thermostat? Sensor? Help thanks

A few year ago Harley realized they had a water pump problem on the Rushmore bikes and did not do a recall the owner had to pay for the repair labor and parts. I have a 2015 Limited CVO and I put the new pump kit on mine last spring when it also popped the fuse. I don't remember the part number of the kit but it was very easy to install. I found the part number and price.
Part number: 26800107
Price: $352.99 plus tax

If you have extended warranty have the dealership replace it.  I went through 4 water pumps before they installed the new M8 pump into my bike, all replaced under warranty.

I have a 2015 RGU Ultra CVO with nearly 140,000 miles.

Is the bike okay to ride with water pump out for about 60 miles or should I find a trailer.

If it was mine I would ride it the 60 miles and try to avoid stop and go traffic if I could.  Many discussions on here and hdforums and many were on a trip (and the dealers did not stock one) and they rode home with no issues.

Unlike most automotive cooling systems, the Twin Cooled system from Harley only cools the combustion chambers, leaving the rest of the engine air cooled.  In an emergency, I would keep riding but be conscious of the need to keep combustion chamber temps down.  No running through the gears or hard lugging up hills for instance.  Also avoid sitting still with the engine running, like at long stop lights or rail crossings.  Also be cognizant of the possibility of coolant being forced out the overflow.  Coolant under your tires is quite slippery.

Mine went in the middle of a trip in 110 degree temps.  Rode it home (had no option) with the pump failed, 850 miles, no ill effects.  Despite the bike being out of warranty, as this problem was so widespread, and should have been a recall item, I kicked up a stink, Dealer (best dealer known to man!) stepped up, they paid 1/3, HD paid 1/3, and I paid 1/3.   Fitted myself, easy job.
