Paint problems with lowers
« on: September 25, 2014, 06:04:05 PM »

I have about 10,000 miles on my bike now and I find that the lowers chip real easy.  Today I power washed the bike and a big chunk of clear came of one of the lowers.  Can I get paint from Harley to fix it or at least the paint codes?

The rest of the paint on the bike is great.

I imagine the clear coat came off because you hit it with a power washer (I did this on my truck once trying to get off Love Bugs).  Take the lower off and take it to a painter and have him reapply the clear coat.

Thanks for the replies, not sure scuffing and clearing will work.  I'm down to paint.

I know how to be careful with the power washer.  My lowers have chipped since day one effortlessly. My 2006 Ultra I bought new never had a problem like this.

I'll just go to a competent painter and have him match it.
