Question on Dash Mounted Zumo Aux connections
« on: July 09, 2011, 12:59:17 AM »

Anyone who is familiar with the dash mounted Zumo hookups.  The kits using the dash pad (if it makes any difference).  Either Zumo unit.

Does the harness that comes through the dash pad and the inner fairing have a connection that could be used to feed a rear aux input on the radio?

Don...reply #5 on this thread: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=49257.0 has a pic of the harness and cradle. It has a female mini heaphone plug for audio out that would be the same type as the rear mounted aux jack on the radio for audio in. Just use a male to male cable and it should work...If I understood what you were asking correctly.

Mike

And here is a harness that J&M sells if you wanted to hook directly to an amp...not that it's what you wanted, but you can see the audio plugs they are using on the end of it.

Yes, Don.

Thanks guys.  MJ, that told me exactly what I needed to know.  Am considering putting the dash pad and pad mounted GPS on the red bike but wanted to make sure that the newer model's connecting harness for that install didn't only just tie in to the radio overlay harness somewhere.

If I can power the unit and get audio out to take to an aux source will be good to go if I choose to.  Now have to find a local upholstery shop who would recover the black dash pad in some dark burgundy leather I've got a little of.

Thanks very much.  Good source info there.  If no local shop gives a good first impression when asked I won't mind at all sending down to a known good source.
