Roadtech Zumo auto mount question
« on: August 08, 2011, 10:26:31 PM »

Anyone with the Zumo 660 (maybe 665 also) can answer this I'd appreciate it.  Did you suction cup auto mount in your kit come in two pieces like this?  If so is there a trick to mating the two.  I've pushed as hard as I dare.  Next step would be disassembly of the mount to release the cup so the ball could go inside.  But I'm not that desparate yet.  If it's supposed to come preassembled would hate to send the whole thing back and forth for this mount.  But ya gotta do what ya gotta do....

Have to love the folks here.  Not even long enough after making the post above to drain half a beer the phone rings.  Veteran site member and good friend has been there and done that.  Needed to push harder and just needed the moral support to know it wouldn't break.

Went in with a loud "pop" but no broken plastic.  So all is good!

Thanks!

Word of caution about using a windshield mount for any electronics. They tend to leave circles on the glass that thieves spot even if the electronics is removed. The thieves think you may be storing the electronics in you glovebox or under your seats so they will break in more often than a vehicle without the marks or mounts on the glass.

Not one question about oil, nitrogen, air pressure, or Glare.  Congratulations, this may be a first.  News about your ball fitting the socket instead.  Not that many threads here about balls.

Did omit certain details of the installation.  To get the ball in the hole I did lube it with oil, blast it with compressed nitrogen and then, whem completed and to celebrate I Glared my ball all shiny and nice.

I don't believe in strapping my ball down to a dyno.  Always free range.

Gives a whole new meaning to seat of the pants dyno.

I had a 660 jump out of the dash mount & slide down the street, trying to escape.  Replaced the defective fairing monkey under w....ty.

I bet, based on his bikes appearance, Don cleans his windshield inside on a regular basis. This tends to remove the dreaded/thug thief attracting ring on the windshield (whatever that is/was).
