Down, but not on a bike...

So, finally after many months of therapy, medical denials and attorney meetings and other drama, I'm finally heading to surgery tomorrow for my herniated L4-L5 disc.
Which is the worst of the injuries. There is still the issue of my neck injury, as well as my shoulder. But as long as I can walk without worrying about falling over I'll be happy again. Nine months is the total recovery time... In the meantime I traded my Maple and Black CVO Road Glide in for a Gunship Grey 2018....

It's called Motivation!...

So surgery seems to have gone well. Sugeon says I'm a little taller, a have strange set of incision holes in my back. One on the left flank where most of the work was done, and four smaller ones where, due to my intended use, (riding) he wanted to be 100% sure the surgery would be effective. So they added two straps and four anchors to actually tie the vertebrae together in addition to the bone cage.

(The procedure is XLIF)

Walked in Wednesday about noon, due to other procedural delays on other patients mine didn't start until 7 pm. I woke up in recovery needing to pee, or so I thought. (I guess not.) They wheeled me into a private room, two days of both occupational abd physical therapy and did well with both.

Fortunately my years of back safety in the workplace pays off, knowing how to keep your spine straight to minimize load on it.

Told them I've had a lot of practice over the last three years!

Late Friday evening I'm going home!

Call my wife, she's like what? Yup, kick the pool boy out!

My best friend goes up to help her. He was going to drive his 4 runner.. I tell him no.no, tall. Gotta be able to sit ass first, then turn, for a little but anyway.

Finally got home at about 1030...

It's nice to back in my own bed.

Great staff, but the beds suck!

That's good news so far. Hope the recovery goes well. :2vrolijk_21:

We may be out your way sometime within the next two years. Daughter and Son in Law are out there. He's stationed at Wheeler I believe playing with drones. Would be a great time to go visit during the winter here in Ohio.

Let me know if you make it. We will have a beer of two at the Pub just off the base.
