Title: Mustang seat question
Post by: LC110 on June 04, 2014, 04:39:27 PM
Does anyone know if the stock sissy bar that comes on the 09 will work with this seat? Mustang 79538 Super Touring One-Piece Vintage Seat

It should, installation and size doesn't go past the mounting screw, so you should be good. My backrest fit when I had my Wide DayTripper installed.

the seats changed  in 2007 2008 and 2009  so factor that into the equation

What I was worried about was the width. I have tried a few different seats and when I go to slide the sissy bar in, I would have to compress the sides of the seat in. It would then end up with the seat wearing against the bar. This is with the standard short bar/w 4 point mounting hardware 2009 SERG.

might be easier to remove sissy bar , install seat and then replace sissy bar

That is what I have been doing. No problems with my present seat. Just some of the aftermarket seats I have tried.
I just wanted to know if anyone has first hand experience using the Mustang 79538 Super Touring One-Piece Vintage Seat with the stock sissy bar.

Actually it's easier to put the sissy bar on first, then put the seat on.

My first seat on my SERG was the 2 pc Mustang seat- the original one before the Super Touring- the stock short backrest didn't rub the seat from what I recall.
