Title: After 6 years
Post by: HDBaggerDave on September 03, 2014, 03:30:39 PM
Felt like I needed a change.  Something to reignite the spark...so I got some paint.  Metallic black faded back to silver...what do you think?

Looks Great :2vrolijk_21:

That would be a good way to cover a ding, rather than trying to blend the paint...

Sure you could...all it takes is a good paint guy.  I don't know how he faded the paint but its flawless and also expensive!

I really like it.. I think it's better than the MOCO. Now all you need are a set of Daymakers.

Well I guess I would be the one to know. Turns out they don't give you chit on trade for all the extras. You can take all the chit of the bike, if possible, and get the same trade-in value. So.. only add extras if you are going to enjoy them cause the money is gone and all you have is the enjoyment.

First, let me say to baggerdave:  VERY NICE on the paint job.  As you stated it was expensive but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.  You got a great looker on that paint.  The painter is an artist....

Simon, an old harley riding buddy of mine (gone from this ol world now) used to tell me to remember whatever chrome/accessories you put on in the garage, you may have to remove on the side of the road to work on it.  Of course it was more true years ago but it stuck with me.  I think about that statement everytime I consider an addition.
More to your point, rule of thumb on extras put on a bike is 10% original value (at least that's the norm for around here).  So if you paid $100 for a "widget" and left it on in the trade, you would get around $10 added to the trade difference.  The dealer wants the new owner to buy new stuff from them to install not already have it on the bike.

Wise words from a man that has been there and done it.
Your new bike is beautiful Simon.
Please heed your own advice!

Thanks to all who like it and even if you didn't, thats ok too.  Good point about what we do and what we put on our bikes.

This one is now gone.  The dealer has her and she was stripped of everything but the 100 up grade.  Everything was removed and didn't matter one bit to the dealer.  Same price with or without.  I got 22K and special discounts on the 2015 now in my garage (not supposed to talk about that).  Whats really cool about this is parts of her a now being enjoyed all over the country.  Andy in Norcal has the Tour Pak, the Zumo shipped today.  Even the docking hardware was sold (thats a testament to our buyer/seller part of the forum).

And just if anyone is wondering, my Corbins fit just fine on the 2015.  Heck, Corbin doesn't even know that.  Anyway, she was a great bike, and like the old country song goes "Im gonna miss her".

Hear is a stripped down girl, last ride to the dealer.
