I haven't seen this posted yet and it's something I'm considering. Has anyone checked into or successfully mounted a 2014 tour pak to a 2012 or earlier CVO? I like the idea of having a Chopped TP that has more room than the earlier King TP and is easier to open.
Thanks In Advance,
Doc

I had this one painted by member Xtreme Dimension Custom Painting. They did an awesome match. Tried the 2012 detachable mount and found it was a bit close. Bought the 2014 rack and it has slots instead of holes. Allows adjustment. These Pacs actually have more cubic inches than older King Pacs. They do hang of the back of bike further. I think it looks cool.

Very nice. :2vrolijk_21:
I'm also curious about saddlebags. Should I post a new thread or would you like to allow that question on your thread?

Great mods.
Well done.

Looks great. Those guys can sure paint!! Looks very "cool". :2vrolijk_21: Stuart.

The 2014 saddlebags will work too, you just have to move the front mount a bit.
Rcamp, do you have a parts list for what you needed to mount that Tour Pak? My wife fell in love with the backseat on a 2014, and I'd much rather not have that seat cost me $40,000 for a new bike.

I've been having the same thought about my FLTRUSE. I like the '14 bags, but not enough to buy a '14 bike.

Detachable Two-Up Tour-Pak Mounting Rack 53000221
Chopped Tour-Pak 53000405
Lock kit (will need your key #) 90300030
I had a 2013 Corbin backrest to match my set. Had a local interior guy adjust it to work. Turned out great. They don't make them for the chopped box yet. Harley has a smooth one that fits. Of course you need the 4 point docking kit.
-
Cool, thanks man.
I looked at Ronnie's parts finder today to figure out what it would take to duplicate my TP in a '14 model.....Holy crow. With a new CVO seat and backrest, new speaker pods, and all the lights and crap, it's about $3,000 without paint.
That's pretty salty, but it's a helluva lot cheaper than a new bike.
Sent from my iPad, probably while I'm pooping.

Extremely cool mod. Looks awesome and such a great paint job.
No doubt a tad expensive, but a whole lot cheaper than a new bike!
A friend of mine has a 2011 Street Glide and wanting a TP. I would imagine this setup would also work on a 2011, right?
Thanks for your assistance.

Very Nice Brother !!!!

Thanks. I had about $1700.00 in this chopped set up.

Thanks. I had about $1700.00 in this chopped set up.
The CVO Limited seat and TP backrest were about $1,400 of the cost that I worked up. And then there were all the lights and the speaker pods.

Understand. I built a King Tour-Pak with all the fixin's for my 2010 flhxse and it was right at $3,500.00. Gets expensive.

Looks great, nice bike :2vrolijk_21:

For my 2011 FLHXSE2, my costs for the same thing was around 3233.41 retail. However, I saved 15% on the items and paid no shipping. My actual cost was 2811.66 plus another 100.00 for wiring and connectors.

Rcamp, thanks for the pics. It looks great. I have a couple of questions for you. Was Xtreme Dimension able to get the ghost flames on the sides of that chopped TP? Could you lay out a cost and parts list for us?
Thanks, Doc

Couple pics for Doc.

Doc;
As you can see flames and stripes are on box. Awesome job. The 12' rack will work. But there is no adjustment and it was to close for my liking. The 14' has slots and can be moved toward the rear. 14' slid right into 12' docking kit no problem. I did not buy or install metal tray. Seems sturdy enough to me. The hinges and latch come with the box from factory. You will need to buy the lock set. I gave them the number from my key and they sent two matching with kit.

Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it. I'm just trying to get all the pricing down before I pull the trigger and I'm looking for the best prices. I used to buy through LSHD1, but since they closed I'm looking elsewhere for the best price. Surdyke may be a one-stop shopping for me unless anyone knows of better pricing.

I have everything I need to put the '14 King TP on my '11 street glide. The problem I'm having is mounting smoked LED stop/tail/turn Light on the back. It is sold as a replacement therefore
it doesn't come with any mounting hardware or a template to drill holes. Any ideas would be appreciated. I may have a problem with the '14 wiring harness connecting to the '11 system as
well just haven't got that far. THX

I was told this weekend that people have been having problems with the '14 TPs opening up while they were driving. It was somehting due to the new latch. Has anyone heard of this problem? If it's so then I'm gonna have to rethink this and put on a '13. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Doc

I have not heard of this being an issue. Could be people aren't latching it completely to begin with (seen it many times with the older style plus did it a few times with my saddle bags). I just bought an unpainted 2014 King TP and put it together to see how it fit on my 2012 FLTRXSE. I rode around a few days with it and I was really impressed with the new latching system. The TP is at my painters now and once I get it back and use it for a while I will let you know if I have that problem. First impression is that it is a vast improvement over the older style TP.
-
I have not had any issues with my latch. Only have about 1k miles since I put it on. In my opinion it looks alot better. My bsr loves the extra space. As you know it has more cubic inches than the 13' King box. I won the VFW bike show for best bagger. My painter said it was definately the Tour-Pak.

Picked this up from my painter yesterday. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/21/sape7apa.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/21/edypa9ep.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/21/unugyvyj.jpg)

i bought my 2013 cvo chopped tourpack through jon horton at horny toad hd. paid right around $1250 shipped. jon.horton@hornytoadhd.com
plus he inspected it before shipping it out and was not happy with the first lid that came in so he sent that one back. took longer to get, but if i had gotten the 'bad' one, then i would have been out the shipping to send it back, and those suckers aren't cheap to ship.

That looks sweet! RGKEN

Thanks Rcamp!

RGKEN,
Is that the '14 King TP?
'Looks Outstanding :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:
Did you have it painted in your neck of the woods?
'Gotta get over there and do some riding with you and Mitchell...

Yes it is an HD Chopped Backrest pad. I just put it on my King because I'm not adding the speakers right now. Not a fan of the look of a wrap around backrest without the speaker pods. Just a personal preference.

Does anyone have the installation instructions that HD supplies with the "kit" for the 2014 Chopped Tour Pak? It usually has a number that starts with -J0****. I'm trying to find a parts list PDF for the chopped pak. I need the number for the bottom part, unpainted. Thanks. I'm going to uncharted waters as i'm going to try and put this 2014 Tour Pak on a '08 down bike.

I'll do some digging today but have you asked your HD parts department? They should be able to bring it up on their computer for you. That's where I would start. The TP bottom comes with the bolt studs built into the bottom so I would say just get the 08' and below quick detach mounting bracket. The most likely it will just entail drilling new holes in the bracket to make it fit.
-
I was going to use this bracket, a custom one, then get it powdercoated gloss black:

I buy a lot of little stuff from my local dealer, little stuff, at full pop retail. For anything over a hundred bucks i use Surdyke.com. I really didn't want to be a dick and request a part number and price, if i couldn't avoid it, knowing i was going to purchase it elsewhere at the 20% discount. I purchased a lid already with a slight paint defect for $100, which doesn't matter as i'm custom painting it anyway. So i just need the bottom so i can get the mock up part done and see if i run into any problems.
Thanks,
Tim

looks good.

I got my lid in today but the chopped tour pak bottom (by itself) is proving to be a difficult piece to find. My local dealer says HD doesn't offer an unpainted bottom, only the above complete kit. As i was saying, usually the part is supplied with a directions and parts list when it comes from HD. I'm hoping one of you who purchased a kit have this paperwork somewhere. I think i could use a denim black bottom as well but we'll see. Thanks for any replies in advance.

A friend of mine with a 2011 Street Glide just purchased a primed 2014 chopped TP and had it painted to match. On order is a spoiler with light as well, which should be in any day.
Looks real nice. :2vrolijk_21:
