The dealer called me today to tell me that he thinks Harley will just try to fix the problems not replace the parts. I told him to forget it. I went to another dealer an put a deposit on a 2011 cvo ultra that is coming in any day.

The 2011 Ultra was my second choice if I decided to not to go with the Kryptonite. Let us know the quality of the Ultra when that day comes..... :pepper:

I thought the same thing, but for the money they are charging for these bikes, they better have there chit together :nixweiss:.  I can go buy a Honda or a BMW for half the price and have a better paint job than what I saw that day.  Plus when you go to sell it, the new buyer will see all the imperfections and deduct it off the price they are going to pay YOU NOT HD.  They need to step up to the plate and have some better quality control.  I have seen TWO 2011 CVO Ultras and neither one had anything wrong with the paint.  I quess that is why the CVO SG were on hold for a while and the CVO Ultras were not....

I was thinking about it hard last night and the CVO ultra is a better deal.  I was going to add the tourpak, the lights on the tourpak, and some other accessories and i was going to be over $38K and still not have some of the extras the Ultra has (ie. heated seats and hand grips, nav, the new bad ass hammock seat, remote locking saddlebags and fork, cb, drivers backrest, highway pegs...) I am going to add the 19" front and 18" rear agitators and ipod connector and I will still be about the same price as the SG with more options.  The only thing I cant add is the tweeters in the dash.  My last CVO Ultra I had the hogtunes dash pod tweeters and they worked perfect, so I am going to add them and the Hawgwired in your face system to really wake the sound system up.  I will keep you guys posted on the progress on the Ultra.  The dealer said it shipped out Oct 29th. :bananarock:

 >:(

Ths bastiges I bought my 09cuse4 from wanted me to sign a "paint waiver"...I told em to wipe Willies arse with it..

Lucky it is silver so all the defects are really hard to see, I think, I havent seen the bike in near 2 weeks, the local is sweating me on W issues.

Comp sprocket, walking flywheel, dead seat heat, warped front rotors..It ran good the 1st 10k, after I dropped 15 hun on pipes, tuners and a tune.

 :(

I am liking the K 1600 GTL beemer, soul or no soul, idgaf, I just want it to run...and at a 130 ft/lbs with 160 bhp it appears that it will...not even needing a tune to cool it down...

I just went by another dealer that just got a Black Orange street glide and same chit.  The paint was terrible.  I hope I will not have this with the CVO Ultra...

Good luck on the guys that are waiting for their bikes.  Make sure you go over with a fine tooth comb!!!!

I dropped into a Motor Co dealer whilst currently on holidays in Queensland - they were in the process of assembling a brand new orange / black for a new lucky owner - I spent a good while looking it over - it was absolutely flawless. We must have the pick of the litter here in Oz.
Cheers

OK. you guys are scaring the hell out of me  My bike is scheduled to be built this Thursday, Nov 4th (or that's what the stealer sez). I had to order from a dealer 200 miles away because the dealer 5 miles up the road wasn't sure he could get me a B&O bike. Bad paint, LED failures, throttle body problems, is this a good bike or not? Has anyone purchased a bike from one dealer and had to go to another for warranty? I purchased a few bikes from the local dealer and I know he isn't happy I went elsewhere for this one.

My local tried to get me the bike I wanted but they could not get the B/O SESG. They did their best but finally just admitted we can't get it. I found one in Wichita and bought it from the Wichita dealer. I felt bad too but my local dealer totally understood. I still bought the warranty and a bunch of chrome from the local so they are still making money. When I took delivery of the bike I noticed a nick in the fairing (not a paint problem per say, scratched when assembling the fairing). The dealer in Wichita ordered the fairing and shipped to my local dealer who replaced it no problem. I also lost the rear LH tail lamp and they replaced that too. The factory pays the dealer for warranty work so they aren't losing any money. And HD dealers make more money on accessories anyway I bet. I always heard the bike was just the down payment on the accessories.

BTW, my paint was flawless other than the nick.

Hi DavidG,

not really - what MoCo pays for the warranty work will in many cases not even cover the paperwork and sending the defect parts to them. They don't refund the time actually needed for the work but ridiculous standard times - and the hassle with them until they accept a claim nobody pays for and it's permanently growing too ...

in Germany dealers get around 14-19% on bikes and 40-45% on OEM motorcloth, parts and accessories. Most couldn't live from sales however, it's their work that pays the rent  ;)

You can't single out the MoCo for this one.....Car dealers get screwed the same way by the manufacturers as well.

Call me lucky as well. I picked up my B/O on Tuesday and it is flawless as well. I held my breath reading this post waiting for my bike. Waxed it last night and couldn't find a flaw anywhere.

mine came pretty much flawless.  the only issue i had was the section of the dash with the CVO on it.  i had some little round moisture like spots showing up.  they ordered me a new one though without question.

other than easily swirling soft paint/clear, i'm happy with the paint.
