Does anyone know if you can make the lowers w/speakers detachable?  Is going to throw off the balance of the amp and fairing speakers being thay are at 1ohm. Thanks

I took mine off, and the radio still sounds fine.  There are plugs on them, but removing the fairing isn't hard, and it sure isn't quick.

you do mean removing the faring lowers right??? No need to remove the fairing as the plugs are easily accessible.

Looking at the service manual, it can definitely be done but it doesn't look like something you would do all the time like deciding whether to have your backrest on or something.  Good luck.   Noted your screen name and tag --  are you a KC-130 guy?

MJB765:  I meant that by removing the lower fairing, the balance, and other functions are not affected.  They are also a pain to remove.  Not something you would want to do every other day.  You can unplug them and tuck the end attached to your radio inside the front fairing.

Has anyone physically measured the resistance on the factory speaker?

I was thinking of putting the easy disconect kit on them to be easy on easy off. I was concerned with the 1ohm balance when you removed the lowers, if there was going to be an issue it would have been a instant short.  Thanks :orange:

Cool.  I was 7557, KC-130 pilot.  I almost did a FAC tour with LAR when I was at El Toro, when there was an El Toro.  We often called the Herc a "Warpig" as well.  Welcome and Semper Fi!

I concur...definitely not a quick detach project...although there have been others on this forum whom have upgraded their lower speakers to deliver more punch.

Since you are discussing the stereo and speakers can you tell me how the 2011 stereo system sounds when your running 70 to 80 mph? Mine is on order - should be here next month..... can't hardly wait.  :cucumber: :cucumber:

Today at 80 mph, the stereo sounded just fine and the wife even commented on how good it sounded from the passenger pillion at speed.  There's always room for improvement, but out of the box it sounds fine!

The speakers and radio seem loud enough.  I would like to hear more bass out of the system though.  It really does not seem to have any bass at all.  Has anyone swapped the amp or speakers out?

J&M is coming out with an amp and speaker setup for the '11 FLHXSE2 in the spring
