Topic: King Tourpak or Chopped Tourpak (Read 3504 times)

I really can't decide whether to buy a king tourpak or chopped for my 2011 SESG Autumn Haze. Any input here would be helpful about the pros and cons of each. I like both but really have no preference, so hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

On long trips my wife likes the comfort of the arm rests and back support of the King, but as soon as I get home the chopped TP goes back on. Other that that you can get two full helmets in a King. Doc

If you ride two up very much......if you do any touring riding, you'll want the King Tour Pack.

Looks and not comfort or short day rides......you may want the chopped tour pack.

Was in similar predicament when I purchased my SEEG. Thought about when would I need the TP the most and when would it be used the most. I wanted both but could only afford one at that particular time. Not sure cost now but when I was looking the chopped tourpak was $100 more then the king tourpak. With that being said I thought more and realized I would really need the tourpak more for traveling and at those times I wanted the most space I could get. Now if you are the type person that will use the tourpak on a daily basis then IMO the chopped looks the best. So I guess my question back to you is what do you think your primary function/use of the TP will be... daily or traveling??

Nope...only the KTP... thinking about making a move (investigating options) on a CTP in the near future though.

Originally I wanted the Razor TP for it's sleek look that matched the lines of the 11FLHXSE2. But once I saw one I realized it had virtually zero storage space. I opted for the CTP as I didn't want to look too much like and Ultra. I recently rode PCH from San Diego to Seattle with it and my Lady. We had plenty of room in the TP, but we also used the Premium TP Rack Bag on the rack. Worked very well and I am very happy with it. My Lady is very comfortable and happy with the backrest on it.

I have a chopped for my SERK. After using it for years I've learned. Go with the King. Better to have the capacity and not use it than to need the capacity and not have it. FWIW.

I got the King for my SESG.

If you are going to tour at all get the King. If you want to look slick going around town.. chopped works.

Like the guys said above, it's a form vs. function thing. If you're traveling there's no such thing as too much room. And, if you're two up there's no question that the larger t.p. will serve you better.

I went thru the samething last summer, The chopped looks better, But for the added storage and BSR comfort the KTP is the way to go, And i'm glad i did.

Thanks for all the replies. With your help I figure it is better to get the kingtour pak and have the extra space instead of looking for extra bags to strap on tto the smaller tourpak. I was looking online and can't find the tourpak pad to match the seat pattern. anyone know if this is even available or just buy the smooth pad.

Especially when traveling...can't always predict those impulse buys. It's good to have space!

I've never really understood the purpose of a chopped "Tour Pack"? After 12 years in the Army, I've learned that you pack whatever you can to be as prepared as possible on "long trips". Thus King is the only thing that makes any sense to me. If you want to look cool, ditch the TP all together
