Hi,
I am currently looking at a used 2014 CVO Limited in great shape with 23,800 miles on it.  I rode the bike and it rides great.  I believe it is a good deal at $16 K.  After my research I am super paranoid now about this lifter issue.  Should I be OK to buy if I take it straight to have the lifters changed?   Just dont want to get stuck with a pig in a poke.  I have been waiting for a few years to buy a nice CVO Limited that won’t put me in the poor house, but the lifter issue has me spooked now.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My guess is the parade mode is being activated when the motor is hot.  You should be able to twist the throttle at idle and it will turn it off and the cylinder will fire.

One of the tuners should be able to confirm and if that’s it, turn it off permanently.

Good luck

I know it's Tennessee but, Dream Rides on 411 in Maryville would be where I'd go. Close to NC. Just a Dragon ride away.

Hi all, I have a 19 street glide special with a 131 and ever since I had the engine done, it will drop down to 1 cylinder and stay like that until I get going, sometimes to 2nd or 3rd gear (or get the engine up to 3K). This only happens after sitting at a red light for more that a minute and the bike is hot. Ambient temp does not make a difference as I live in Canada and ride in a lot of cold weather.   Quick history, Harley installed the stage 4, gave it back without mapping it, took it back for the map and my buddies 17 SG with the 107 and stage 1 could keep up with me. I took it to a bike builder and it dyno'ed at 93 HP ( not what I paid 10K for). After tuning, 118 HP and 134 torque I had a bigger cam, rockers and lifters installed as well as an upgraded compensator and clutch pack. New dyno shows 130 HP and 140 torque. I also had them remove the governor and rev limiter and turn off the (EITMS) and it still does it. The dealer told me they can replicate the problem and the other bike shop cant figure it out either.
Anybody else ever hear of this happening or know what it could be?
Oh ya, Im new on hear and read a ton of good posts but did not see anyone with the same issues. Thanks

You guys are posting some very impressive mileage numbers.  Hell, I thought I was doing good......tell everybody this is the most reliable Harley I've ever owned at 79,030 miles on my 2013 CVO Ultra Classic.  Fulsac baffles and header and a tuner....stock, other than that.  Jim at Metal Dragon has done all of my 10k services and he just replaced a weeping top end gasket.  Full synthetic only.

I'm leaving back to Northern California in a couple of weeks then back home to Tucson.  Then headed up over Beartooth Pass to the Beartooth Motorcycle Rally in Montana in July.  I know of a few others that are up around the 100k mile mark.  I remember when the thinking was a Harley with 60k miles was ready for a rebuild.

Hi John,

Just a thought - if your bike has traction control, it may be kicking in under certain circumstances such as a tight turn.

Thanks
Pauly

Hello, some pointers please.
2019 FLUTK M8.
When negotiating a tight turn at very slow speed, slipping the clutch, holding it steady on the rear brake and particularly when turning on a slight upward slope it will hesitate on the throttle, seems to cutout for a fraction of an instant. This is very disconcerting, especially two up.
Anyone got an idea what it could be and how I get it sorted.
JohnT.

Keep riding safe.  I am now over 215,000 on the bike.  Not as much mileage adding on as I have 2 bikes now to ride.  Using this one as my primary commuter back and forth to work, that is nearly 100 miles a day.

Gave the CVO a good wash in the morning, it was cool, low 60's.  After lunch low 70's took a nice 110 mile ride.  Temps are usually warmer than this in late May, but I'm sure enjoying the cooler temps.

Still not quite there but busting my ass to do so. Crossed 166,000 trouble free miles today on my 2020 CVO Road Glide.

Give either Andy Sr. or Andy Jr. a call at Simon Motorsports. They can direct you to who can help. They're both very nice guys and they know who is who in the performance world. Andy Sr. can also set up your six speed for the power you're about to hit it with. Below are a few photos of the gearbox I sent to him.
