Thanks for coming out to the grounds you guys......
Sunday morning by 9 is when all the bikes must be in and is the time to mill around Dave.
I'll be there next year too, hope for weather as nice as it was this year.
I have a nice 1970 honda trail 70 that may place well next year.
Check the link and de-evolutionize!
Leave your sert and lindel shoes at the door.
Check for a happening near you. And for crimminy's sake; get one if you can

Mike,
It was great meeting you and the wife. That Oldster sure looked great to me! I know those judges are super critical, but get those points back man! She is a beauty and you and Lisa both seem to have so much passion with her that it would be a crime not to get those needed points. Speaking about the Trail 70, Nancy and I were looking at a Trail 70 at the show (in pretty bad shape) and I said, "I had one just like that" and she looked back at me and said, "Me too!" Lots of nostalgia and it was great to see all of those old machines, some in impeccable condition too! Really sorry to hear that the points just weren't there for the Oldster, but I think you now know what you need to do. Good luck with the Oldster and Martha and I both look forward to seeing you two again soon!

No worries bro...
Whattya think of twin carbs, cams and straight pipes?
I'll pull the fenders off and enter it as "period modified"
Kidding, I'm kidding.

Hey Mike!
Thanks for the pictures and wish I could have been there. You'll get em next year! That sure is a crap pile of money there but it's good to see some folks are trying to save them.

When is your bike gonna be done? Soon I hope!

Mike, awesome pictures! Thanks for sharing. It's too bad you didn't score better. That's amazing how perfect some of them look. Is there any consistancy to the judging (are you losing points on the same thing). No doubt you get 1st place in this forum!

The human factor cannot be ignored. The recent amca rules regarding " restored" machines states that showroom new condition is the requirement. The poor oldster is 73, no way around it.
No biggie. 4 British gents judged it and they were equally persnickety on the other too. I understand, some entrants get downright pissy and take thing personally. I prefer the rigid judgement.
I may be able to pick up 3 or 4 points, not enough. Some of the other deductions are simply not worth the money and effort to persue...
An example for a 1/2 point gain would be to unlace(unspoke)the offending wheel and align the hub grease fitting 180 degrees off the air chuck...Ain't gonna happen.
It has been a great learning experience and the judges are approachable and serious about business.

Is this for real?
-
Is this for real?
I guess it is 1/4 per wheel, l as both of mine are not correct.
-
Not being into restored vehicles this is hard to imagine that the judging could be so picky.
-
You have an awesome bike and did good. Now that is just getting way too picky. Thanks for posting the awesome pictures. Some magnificent machines there.
Regards, Moe
