Title: Bolt pattern.
Post by: CVO2FIXUP on June 08, 2014, 10:33:30 AM
Fast Question.  Just bought a SE 58 mm TB. ( waiting for it to arrive ) Will my intake ( Roland Sands billet intake ) bolt on to the larger TB? OR will it need to be machined a bit. Mostly wondering about the bolt patters and spacing.  Looking forward to getting at least 170/170 with this mod.  :huepfenlol2:

Is that 170 feet or 170 seconds, whichever comes first? ;D

As for the fit question, the bolt pattern for the SE 58mm ETC TB is the same as the pattern for the 50mm stock TB, so that shouldn't be a concern.  What I wonder about is the actual throat diameter of the backing plate, and whether or not there's enough material to bore it out to match the new TB.  I couldn't find any info at all on the Roland Sands site about the throat size of the plate.  How does it match up right now to your stock TB?

Bore it, and don't forget to re-cut the radius.....

Hey, the Dino  "will" say 170 one way or another "  :P Just kidding of course.   I am still waiting for the TB to arrive.  The RSD backing plate is a billet aluminum piece, so has lots of material to work with.  I am just glad the bolt patters is the same.  Just spent $500.00 for it.

So on what size TB does the bolt pattern starts to be different?

The FBW 50mm and 58 mm HD throttle bodies are the same bolt pattern and ID at the mounting face. Bolt it on and ride.

Please post your dyno chart!  :pineapple:

Hey there guy's, just got my Screaming Eagle 58 throttle body and it did not come with the flanges and flange seals.  Does the SE TB kit come with those parts? Or do I use the stock 110 ones that are on my bike already? Tanx for the info.

Re-use the stock flanges.  I'd replace the seals.  The kit does not come with either...

Sorry, but that's not accurate. (Unless I misunderstood your statement)
While the bolt pattern is the same, the ID of the throat of the TB inlet and the needed AC backing plate is demonstrably larger on the 58mmTB.
HD sells a different backing plate for the Ventilator (for example)
P/N  29763-09   -    Backplate assembly, 58 mm throat size (for kits 29490-09 and 29915-09) For the stock 50mm bore TB

P/N  29400038   -   Backplate assembly, 64 mm throat size opening (for kit 29400039) For the SE 58mm bore TB
or you can do this

The HD Heavy Breather bolts on the 50 or 58 no problem, the description even calls that out.  I assumed all of the HD ACs would bolt on the 58 but they don't, you are right! Sorry for bad info.
