Title: Route 66 map please
Post by: SEgle on April 09, 2011, 05:10:08 AM
Hoping someone may have a gps route of the old route 66, will be doing the trip on June 7 in Chicago.

2 Aussies, 2 Bikes, 2 weeks. Need help with directions though. I'll be using a Tom Tom gps if that matters.

Cheers, Dave

I don't know what maps the Tom Tom has.....I've always used Garmin.

I think you'll find just about everything you'll need here at this link.....  http://www.historic66.com/

More then likely the files there will be for Garmin products unless Tom Toms use the same type file they may not be of any use to the original poster.

Hey there Amigo, I followed your post last year for a while. It was great, possibly part inspiration for this trip. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Silegman AZ to Kingman to Oatman to Topoc is the most undisturbed portion of the route, just rode it two days ago amazing and discovered it by accident.  Don't forget to get your picture with one of those route 66 emblems painted on the road.  Have a great time, not many can afford to take the time to do this.

My wife and I did Rt 66 from Chicago to LA last August with Eagle Rider Tours.  The tour guide who's name is River Pilot led the tour as an employee of Eagle Rider.  He has since left the company and now offers a complete GPS map of Rt 66.  Attached is his contact information.  Hope this helps.  River is very knowledge of your intended ride and can give you some very good information.  Say hello for me when you talk to him.

Thanks for that, i'll send of an email soon. If nothing else comes of it, his website shows a great ride itinerary. Though 17 days is a tad long.
