TN to TN by way of NE, WY, MT, ID and SD

We had a great time!  Thanks to all of those that recommended staying at the Three Bears Lodge in West Yellowstone, MT.  It was a hoot (or would that be growl) and that town and location was perfect for visiting the park.  It really is just outside the West gate.  If you get a chance to visit Yellowstone or haven't been in a while, GO!  Beautiful country.  God's handiwork could be seen everywhere we looked.

12 days and just a hair shy of 4,300 miles

I was a bit surprised by the thermal activity all over the place.  I was expecting it around Old Faithful but dang, it's everywhere in the park.  Folks fishing in one part of a creek and not 100 yards away you have bubbling ground.  The Yellowstone lake is HUGE but folks swimming or wading at the edge with active steam pits across the road....eerie.  Also, walking on the boardwalks were fine but all the time I was thinking aren't these built on the same soil where there are signs for no walking/contact with chance of harm or death?  hmmmmm.... :nixweiss:

I've been on the Eastern edge of Nebraska but this was the first cross state trip.  I've seen my share of corn fields (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa) but Nebraska takes the cake (corn?).  I measured it out and after 200 miles, we didn't not see corn fields.  Glad we did it though.

I've been through the middle and NE part of Wyoming a few times now but never the southern or SW part.  First visit to Cheyenne, Jackson Hole and Cody.  Cheyenne is great, Jackson Hole is snooty (but beautiful country) and I wish we had a day or so for Cody just for the history.  We did get to eat in and visit the Irma in Cody during our brief pass through.

Pictures?  Yep, here you go.  First up is the sign in the front grassy area at Frontier HD dealer, Lincoln, NE dealership.  The second floor of the dealership is a must for those of us that enjoy HD history.  I hope they have a good fire suppression system 'cause they have some great pieces of MoCo history.

I wouldn't mind staying in the park but it's EXPENSIVE and according to the park ranger, August and September are two of their busiest months.
