Well I found out why there is no sound............ the thing-a-ma-jiggy inside the cradle came loose and fell inside!! I am going to get a small screww driver from the shop tomorrow and see if it's fixable. Should I fool with it or will Garmin send me a new one? I am concerned that if I take it apart and it doesn't work they will not replace it.
The cradle you are showing is the suction cup car mount, and it has an internal speaker. The audio out you are referring to is if you wanted to hook it up to radio in car. For example if you had one of those CD/Cassette adapters that you plug in portable CD players so you can use them in the car.

In regards to trying to fix that one I would call Garmin Tech Support and from what I hear they are great to work w/and more then likely would replace it at no charge.

I'd just give Garmin Support a call, they're great to deal with.

Correct. This is how I use my Zumo. I don't like that big ball sticking up from my handlebar when it's not on the bike. I hook it up to the Aux port in the front of the radio the same as my Ipod. I want to use the Zumo for my MP3s as it is waterproof and the Ipod is not.

Ok, gotcha. I would contact Garmin then and tell them the plug has slipped back inside the cradle and is not usable. I wouldn't mention that you are using it as a motorcycle mount just in case one of the customer service reps previously worked for H-D, and try to say you're not using the mount as it was designed. ;)

You may want to look at this thread - Standard GPS or Garmin - implementation and see how some of us have mounted the Zumo. I think it's a much better install then using the supplied motorcycle hardware from Garmin.

I just read back some of your previous posts and now understand why you are using the car mount on your bike since you have two bikes. You mention about using the Zumo for MP3's since it's waterproof you may want to consider getting another motorcycle cradle/power cord from Garmin and purchasing a Techmount motorcycle mount. This system wouldn't be unattractive for those times you didn't have the Zumo on and I would be a little concerned about using the car mount in wet conditions because I don't believe it's waterproof. :nixweiss:

That's great. :2vrolijk_21: From what I've been told they have a great customer service department and will do what it takes to keep the customer happy.

Hi All,

I read all the posting here and wanted to remind all of you that the zumo's only play MP3's when it is POWERED BY THE BIKE BATTERY, IT WILL NOT PLAY WITH THE BUILT IN BATTERY PACK. It looks like its playing on the zumo's display. But, its not sending any signal out the 1/8" jack.

Thanks for the info, I am in the process of unlocking the map software for the 550 with the unit connected to the computer and the software is asking for a activation code.  I cannot find an activation code, anyone else have this issue? Thanks

Look for a small (4X6) piece of yellowish/orange paper that came w/your Zumo. The print will be really small and in several languages. On the top of one side it will say "IMPORTANT! UNLOCK CODE ENCLOSED (English), and on the bottom of that sheet will be a bar code. Just above the bar code you should see...

Unit Serial Number: XXXXXXX
Registration Code: XXXXXXX
Unlock Code XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
