I've Had my Zumo since early April. Rode up through Canada to Jasper and back to Southern Idaho, I love this thing. I used the POI loader and uploaded HD dealerships. works awsome.

Hope your new one works as well as mine has.

TJ :orange:

Sorry for my ignorance but what is a POI loader and what does it do?

Hey Bonhead, is the Zumo a HD product, is this the one from the catalogue?
Zumo is not a H-D product. Manufactured by Garmin. I believe the Quest which have the H-D label on them are also by Garmin.

POI = Points Of Interest. They can be anything from H-D dealers, coffee shops, retail outlets, etc. These are things that are of interest to you that you can load a bunch into your GPS. Then as you travel around and you want to find these items you can enter a couple of key strokes and retrieve them and see how close they are.

Thanks people, ordered the Zumo 550 last night online. Don, at the moment I'm planning on leaving the H-D Quest mount as is but you know what they say about plans. ;D

I'm also interested in the Zumo. Where did you order yours from & how much did you have to pay if you don't mind me asking ?
                                 Thanks, Linny

The quest is a harley branded product manufactured by Garmin. The are great GPSes they just lack many features that are available on the Zumo.

I have used a GPS for many years and the Zumo does a better job at recalculating than any other that I have used. This is very handy if you have designed a route with Mapquest software and loaded into Zumo and then missed a turn. Many GPSes will recalculate your route from there and come up with a much different route. If you have Zumo set to the same calculating method as the Mapquest software, it will get you right back on the same custom route. Another nice feature is the ability to quickly remove via points and waypoints from your route or add them. As with any positioning device, there are imperfections but Zumo is as close as it gets. Be patient with any software that you use. There is a learning curve. Practice makes perfect......... My price (695.00) would not be valid as I bought it from GPS Crazy a year ago. Just over 600.00 seems good now.

I found prices online from $609. - $1,195. Decided to go with Costco. It was $660 less 2% with free S & H. I'd never heard of the lower price entities and when you added S & H, it was close enough for me to spend and extra buck or two to go with Costco.
Looking at the package tracking it is "out for delivery". Yahoo! I'll be playing with it this afternoon and stylin tonight.

MJZ, did you order a handlebar mount at the same time?  What else (other than the unit itself) do you need to order to get into the GPS bizness?  I may have held out as long as possible on hanging one of these on my SEEG.  har!  :drink:spyder

Mark/Spyder,
Check out this thread - Standard GPS or Garmin - implementation it will show/list the items several of us have used to install the Zumo's on our bikes.

There is also another thread on the Zumo Forum concerning install a Zumo on a FLHT here - Harley Davidson FLHT Installation Guide.

Mark,
You'll end up getting a chrome one, trust me. The one that comes w/the Zumo leaves a lot to be desired. With all the rest of the chrome on the front of our bikes you're not going to be happy with the mount supplied.

Mark,
One other note. If your unit doesn't come with City Navigator 2008 make sure you go to the Garmin website and register your unit. You should be eligible for the 2008 update for free (normal cost $69.99).

Even if it does come with City Nav 08 do the registration thing.  My new 2820 came with 08 of course.  But the freebie is an update release to what was already supplied.
